Well. I have been in Grabill, Indiana for an entire week now. Well...technically, just Indiana for a week. It has been very eventful, stressful at times. But fun for the most part. I like it a lot, and I know I will love the summer as a whole.
Our intern office is taking shape. We started out in a storage room in the basement with 3 white fold-out tables, a phone, and two laptops. We now have 2 couches, 1 loveseat, 1 recliner, several pillows, an end table, a coffee table, one big white fold-out table, and two lamps. Plus the phone and two laptops. We still need a rug and artwork and the place will be set. Well. Almost. See...all the walls are an ugly green color that I guess the youth ministers thought would be nice. No. U-G-L-Y. So two of the youth are coming in this weekend, I believe, to paint two of the walls red. Not my favorite, because now I think we are gonna be feeling like a Christmas tree in there, plus I feel red is too bright for an office. But oh well. Anything to off-set the green. There's not even a way to describe what kind of green it is. Ew.
I have to teach a Sunday School class. My choice of material. So I am doing a closer look at movies with underlying Christian Themes in them. My four movies are: Lord of the Rings(the whole trilogy), Star Wars(Episodes 1,2, & 3), Chronicles of Narnia, and The Matrix(just the first one). It should be interesting. I'm titling the class "Christian Cinematics". It's just for Junior High, and they get to pick between my class, and Jon's Class which is "Running the Good Race". That is later in the summer, though.
Today I travelled to Ohio. Me and the other intern from GA had no weekend plans as of yet, so we decided to help one of the youth ministers move her stuff into her fiance's house in OH. It was about a 20 minute drive to a quaint town called "Hicksville"...and no lie, that was the true name of it. This town is old as dirt, seriously. The house that her fiance lives in is seriously 100 years old. Has one electric outlet in the bedroom, and the mailbox is on the side of the house by the door, not at the end of the driveway. Plus the occasional train goes right beside there, and lots of Horse and Buggy combos going by with the lovely Amish people on them.
Yesterday was my big "mail day". Jennie graciously took me to the post office where it took me about 20 minutes to send off 2 packages and 5 letters. The letters went out to Micki, Tina, Mrs. Galm, Mrs. Cram, and Amanda. The packages went to Hillary and Allison. At some point during the summer, everyone will have received some sort of package from me with something they would like from up here. :)
So far so good. Minimal pains. I've only been sick once, and that was after eating Mexican on Monday. I go to bed early a couple nights out of the week to get some good rest in. The kids love me(the ones I am staying with.) and love to do things with me. Parker(4 years old) got upset yesterday because I didn't go on the family walk. And Cooper(8 years old) is my movie buddy, and will watch anything with me. Every other night, pretty much, Jennie and Jill and I will stay up talking till about midnight or 1AM and then head off to bed. I think Jill really likes us being there so she can have some girly chats with us. Its so much fun.
The Bonins(family I am staying with) have graciously allowed me to use their beautiful red Jeep Wrangler all summer. Only thing is, they have to get a new clutch for it. Once they do that then I can have it. I'm hoping, that if I like it a lot this summer, then maybe by the end of the summer they will sell it to me. Not sure though. Gotta see if I really like driving a stick or not. I know how, its just been a while since I have, and I have never driven a stick permanently. Only here and there. So we will see how the summer goes.
Anyways. That is about it for now. Not doing anything else today, to my knowledge. Tomorrow is church, and then Monday my "family" and another family from the church are having a picnic together for Memorial day and we are having wild turkey...yum yum....hopefully. I've never had wild turkey, so I am hoping it's like all the other turkey I've had. :)
Love love.
Sarah.
