Push Them Away

I’ll be just fine,

I’m keeping my eyes,

On the stars and the moon-

At the bottom of a bottle.

I don’t know what it is,

So bitter-sweet…

Is it blood, or something-

That burns even hotter?

And when the knife cuts through,

It somehow makes me laugh.

To think that I could do something,

Like that.

I haven’t gotten so far yet,

As to wonder if I can bleed out…

But eventually I’ll lose my mind,

And then I’ll start to cry.

Weave the webs now,

Don’t let them in.

Don’t let them see the pain.

You know- life’s not so bad,

It’s a beautiful thing-

So when you feel the hurt growing,

Push them away.

I’ll be just fine,

I’m keeping my heart,

In that chest in the corner,

It looks just like art-

But do you think,

You can break the locks?

Can you even find the key?

I don’t think you know-

That there’s no key to me.

Weave the webs now,

Don’t let them in,

Don’t let them see the pain.

You know- life’s not so bad,

It’s a beautiful thing-

So when you feel the hurt growing,

Push them away.

I”ll be just fine,

As I watch the smoke curl,

Around broken arms,

And torn-tattered flesh.

I know you think,

It’s a sin for an angel,

To laugh at herself,

As she takes her last breath…

But I was never one of you,

I never had the wings to fly.

And when I was given this heart- so true,

That heart, it taught me… how to cry.

Weave the webs now,

Don’t let them in,

Time’s too short,

To be making new friends

It’s a beautiful thing,

This life that we lead,

While the blood is pouring,

Down.
