For those of you not friends with
rickenbacker (you should be…lol), but seriously…the title of my entry comes from something she posted last week:
Did you hear the Cubs are having problems setting up their website? Something about them not being able to put 3 W's together in a row.
Well…that sounded funny…I mean who wouldn't laugh, right? Yeah, I laughed for a couple of seconds too, until I realized that could have been said about my Losers just as easily. Well, not anymore…they finally managed to string 3 wins together. As far as I'm concerned it still doesn't get them out of the doghouse, but it is a start. 'Nuf said.
As for the pre-game stuff…treat/gift giving…all went pretty much as expected. I had no trouble getting the treats to Jeff and Adam…though it could have been disastrous since they were coming into the dugout from different ends…at the same time. So, I yelled at Jeff (before he got to the dugout), got his attention and showed him the "treat box" (we had them in those cheap Ziploc tupperware things)…so as he was headed over, I called Adam and tossed him his treats. Each of their eyes (Jeff's and Adam's) lit up like Christmas when they saw the treats…it was SO adorable. Jeff dropped his...use 2 hands...lol Mayra didn't have any trouble getting her treats to their intended this time either, the key is for her to only have 1 player…otherwise she gets distracted (oooo, look at the pretty lights…lol). Last on the list was the baby present…I tried to call Ersty as he ran into the dugout, but he just refuses to look at the fans (afraid they might ask for an autograph, I guess). I tried again during pre-game warm-ups, though I still didn't think it would happen…and it didn't. So, in the end, I had to have Adam take the little chickie bag into the clubhouse. It was funny too…cause I got his attention while he was still warming up, and asked "Will you please take this to Ersty?"…he said "yeah" and made a step to come over and get it then put his hand up to say hang on. I guess he didn't want to be out there with the little chickie bag as he was warming up…LOL It was so sweet of him to do that for me!!
I also took the little gift I had for Sage…and his parents loved the little Mickey baseball outfit and the booties I made. Karl even put the shirt on over his PJs. The booties are a little big (which I knew they would be), but he'll grow into them in no time. And I got to hold him for most of the game too! He's just SO cute!!
EDIT: After last night's performance...Tim Salmon needs 6 RBI to reach 1000 and 7 HRs to reach 300. GO FISH!!
