On 11/30 and 12/5, I had two complex, hours-long back surgeries to correct a spinal deformity called flat back syndrome. I've had a very tough recovery period, since the surgery left me with terrible sciatica in my left leg from my waistline down the side of my leg all the way down to my toes!
I'm going for physical therapy, taking pain killers and even cortisone shots (wreaking havoc with my diabetes), but nothing much makes the sciatica better. It's very discouraging. Some say I need to give it more time, and that it takes a full year to recover from this type of surgery.
It's been less than three months and seems like three years.
I've watched a ton of TV and done a lot of reading. We're considering acupuncture.
Love,
Robin
