now we drive all night
passing time the best we can
avoiding the inevitable
just entrails of this love remain
familiar shadows of former grandure
we drive past those beloved places
scenes play beneath the surface
but so much colder this time
thoughts blocked by insecurities arise
shear darkness blurs hindsight
further down the road now
we have thrown so much time away
a stagnant era in our lives
just sever the tie
cut this strong yet stubborn heartstring
stop and get out
speechless on the car ride home
head inside for a mundane loveless night
wedged between comfort and convienience
and the night waines on again
only to begin again tomorrow
