Summary:Kevin recieves a gift but isn’t sure if he wants to open it or not.
A/N: I'm sorry it's been a while but I have been trying to get ready for school amongst other things. Though I also have no internet at home *pouts*
Also my Birthday is this week so I have been trying to plan that as well. Anyways I'm gonna try and get back into writing now that school is starting. Lets see how it goes. Now off to the fic....
This fic is also part of the 35 Fic challenge prompt number 35.
"Kevin you should completely open it. I know I'm late on sending it but it is something special for you." A familiar voice spoke through the phone.
"But I'm scared why should I open it?" Kevin responded with a soft voice.
There was a sigh on the other end of the line. "It's cause you know me and I would never hurt you or injure you. You shuold know this by now."
"I know but- but." Kevin stuttered.
"Kev, I'm sorry I gotta go. Just please open it."
"Okay I will Kibum. I will open it." Kevin responded.
As soon as the phone clicked Kevin stared at the gift not sure if he wanted to open it or not.
The wrapping was just so beautiful that he couldn't believe his eyes. It was a deep blue with purple lettering that said 'Happy Birthday' all over it. It was a square shape and it was the perfect wrapping on it. The only thing that had him baffled was the reason why it was sent and who wrapped it. Everyone knew that Kibum wasn't the best gift wrapper.
"Kevin. We gotta go. Open it when we get back." Eli said as he walked in and out of the room grabbing a bag and a bottle of water.
Kevin sighed. The gift was going to distract him all day but there wasn't much that he could do about the situation. Kevin wanted to know what Kibum had sent him but he didn’t want to know at the same time.
It was coming up on the three year anniversary of U-Kiss and they were also preparing for a comeback in Korea at the same time. Their album was supposed to be released this week but everyone knew that wasn’t going to happen.
“Kevin, Come on we are going to be late!” an upset Soohyun yelled down the hall into the room. “You getting to be as bad as Dongho.
There was an ‘ow’ then a burst of laughter from the other rooms and Kevin smiled. He gathered up his things and moved to go out into the hallway. He managed to grab the gift Kibum had sent.
Soohyun punched him lightly in the arm as they seven of them booked it out the door and into the vans that awaited them.
“What the heck took you so long?” Eli proclaimed as they started to drive away from their dorms.
“I was looking for something” Kevin said quietly.
“Well did ya find it?” Dongho piped in.
Kevin shook his head.
The ride was quiet for all of them as they tried to focus on the big show that was about to happen this afternoon.
As soon as they arrived at the venue the noise started up again with everyone as they piled out of the van trying to weave through the fans to get into the concert hall. They were starting to get popular and there was no doubt that people were starting to love them more and more.
Kevin mumbled to himself as they worked their way to the makeup artists to get things done and ready for the show. He wasn’t focused on anything but the package that was sitting in his bag that waited to be opened. He didn’t want to leave it behind but he didn’t want to open it. There was a meaning to it but he wanted to be on the phone with Kibum when he opened it. That wasn’t going to happen anytime soon but Kibum had said it was for his birthday.
“Kevin come on we need to get on stage now!” Dongho said to the older member. “What has you distracted lately?”
Kevin shook his head “Nothing”
“Liar” Dongho said and pulled Kevin to the side. “Tell me the truth, I won’t tell anyone but please tell me?”
Kevin shook his head and moved away from the younger member. “I’m sorry Dongho it’s something I need to decide on my own.” Kevin put on a smile and walked onto the stage.
Dongho shook his head but followed behind Kevin to the bright lights of the stage.
After the show everyone was backstage getting ready to head to the next part of their schedule. Kevin though tried to avoid everyone and called Kibum.
“Hello?”
“Hey Kibum.”
“Kevin what are you doing calling me?” Kibum snapped a little “You should be getting ready for the photo shoot.”
Kevin sighed Kibum was right he should be getting ready for the shoot but he was too distracted. “I want to open that gift while talking to you.” Kevin said softly.
“Fine but hurry I gotta get back to this project I’m working on.” Kibum stated sharply.
Kevin did a silent nod and opened the gift trying not to tear the paper up too much.
His jaw dropped open at the sight of the gift. “K-Ki-Kibum. What is this?” Kevin stuttered.
There was a smile on Kibums face as he spoke into the phone. “What I wanted to give you this whole time.”
Tears started to fall down Kevin’s face as he stared at the gift. “Kibum Thank you.” Kevin smiled and hugged the gift tight. “It’s beautiful.”
“So are you.” Kibum stated. “But I really gotta get back to work and you need to get ready for the photo shoot.”
“I know and I… I…”
“Kevin I hope you are ready to go managers are paging us to go.” Someone yelled down the hall.
“I’m sorry Kibum I gotta go. Thank you.” Kevin hung up before he got a response. He knew he wasn’t ready but he yelled back “Yeah! I’ll be there in a sec.”
Kevin quickly changed and ran out the dressing room almost forgetting the gift that he had just opened.
Once the boys got home later that night Kevin pulled Dongho aside. “Dongho this is why I needed to figure out what to do.” Kevin held up the gift that Kibum had given him.
“Don’t tell me that the gift was from Kibum?”
Kevin nodded with a smile on his face. “He sent it to me”
Dongho grabbed the gift and ran down the hall. “Guys guess who got the gift we all have been waiting on?”
Eli, Soohyun, and Kiseop looked up to smile at the youngest of the group knowing all what was going on. Hoon and Aj sat on the floor looking at the others dumbfounded as to what was going on.
Dongho was holding a vintage radio. Dark blue with an inscription on it that read
To my Lovely Kevin,
I miss you greatly though I know that it has been rough I wish I was with you. I hope you listen to this nightly and think of me.
The one and only Kibum.
“Wait so all of you knew about this?” Kevin asked surprised.
The four nodded while the other two went back to what they were doing. “He had been planning on getting you that since he left XING that is what he told us anyways.” Soohyun spoke up.
Kevin started to get teary eyed again as he moved to the center of the room. “I miss him so much and now I don’t know what I’ll do for him for Christmas.” Kevin sighed and fell to the floor on top of AJ.
They all giggled as the phone rang.
Dongho was the first to get it.
“Hello?.. Yes he is here why?” Dongho said, curious as to what the conversation was Kevin and Eli got up from the pile on the floor.
No one spoke as Dongho dropped the phone and shook his head. “No, no, no, no, no, no.” He kept repeating this as Eli picked it up and spoke to the person on the other line.
“He is in shock I’ll let him know as soon as he comes out of it thank you.” Eli hung up the phone and fell to the ground crying.
Kevin looked at the two curious as to what was going on. “Tell me please?” Kevin started to plead for someone to speak.
The two never moved but Soohyun knew what to do. “Eli you’re the tough one tells us who and what please.”
Eli shook his head but motioned for a piece of paper and a pen. As soon as he got it he wrote down
Killed
Kis
Kibum
Driver drunk
Kevin read it then collapsed to the floor. He crawled over to the radio which was now sitting on the couch and clung to it. It was his last gift from Kibum and he was never going to let it go.
A/N: I’m sorry this got longer than planned and also sorry for late updates it’s been a crazy summer and I dunno how I’ll be getting to write this fall but I will do my best. Thanks for reading and please comment
