Censorship
I saw this announcement, and I've not had a chance to check this out....but it seems interesting that the media companies should be allowed to do what they please, and to censor those who displease them. I can imagine that they'd be quite, quite displeased with fanfiction and fandom as a whole.

In the United States, a new law proposal called The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced last week, and there will be a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee this Thursday.
If passed, this law will allow the government, under the command of the media companies, to censor the internet as they see fit, like China and Iran do, with the difference that the sites they decide to censor will be completely removed from the internet and not just in the US.

I've forwarded this information to morgandawn , because I had this impression in my head that if anyone would know what to do about this, it would be Morgan! Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure she already knows all about it...
