The Day of Silence

Apr 18, 2007 20:42

Today's the national Day of Silence. All across the country, people are silent in reflection of the hardships gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people go through every day in our unforgiving and harsh society we live in. If you or you know of someone who is any of the aformentioned sexualities (or even if you don't!), take a moment tonight to reflect on the difficulties they face day after day. As iemaytch said (or wrote, rather) on why we are silent, "It's a statement, it's not trying to not speak out, it's upposed to mirror the silence people who are gay have to suffer through." Take a minute and think. Someone you care about is gay or lesbian.

I was silent today, for I respect the struggles. I honor the silence.

Do you? What will you do to end the silence?

Thank you.

On another note, tomorrow is my audition for "Noises Off!" Seriously, that show is one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen xD. I'm excited to audition (I'm doing an excerpt from "The Art of Dining." It's hilarious ^_~), for being a part of that show would just be so wonderful :) But there is a downside... For if I do get in, I won't be able to do the Splash Circus show this fall. And that would probably be my last show with the troupe anyway. So...I'm both hoping I get in, and praying I don't. It's a kind of sacrifice either way. :\ Well, wish me luck anyway, with whichever side you're on!
Now if I could just memorize my monologue... D:
