BACKGROUND: Born and raised in the bustling shopping district of Tokyo, Minako Aino had things relatively simple. Aside from being a bit of an oddball with her blond hair and blue eyes (which was mainly due to some English in her blood on her mother's side), she had no major issues or angst to speak of. She spent the first thirteen years of her life going to school, crushing on boys, getting heckled by her mother, and hanging out with her friends, just like any other Japanese girl her age. Little did she know that one day, everything was going to change. It started out like any other morning; running late to school, zoning out in class, and kicking ass in Gym. However, something was off. A little white tomcat with a moon marking on his forehead had been following her everywhere, even to the point of tripping her up during P.E. and sneaking into her classrooms. While it was annoying, she thought nothing of it, and continued her day, pushing it in the back of her mind for more important things (namely drooling over the current crush of the moment). She had all but forgotten it when she got home, and right when she was about to change, THAT DAMN CAT APPEARED ONCE AGAIN. But it wasn't just that, oh no. Said cat then proceeded to change into a human male, right before her very eyes. So she did what any other preteen girl her age would do if a mutant man crawled in through their window.

She screamed bloody murder and locked herself in her closet.

It took a good while of convincing on the man's end to assure Minako he wasn't going to hurt her, and when she finally crept her way out of her hiding space, he sat her down and explained everything to her. He told her his name was Artemis (and whether or not it was a codename, no one really knows), and he was a shape shifter who was also was gifted with the power to detect the latent abilities of other mutants. He had begun following Minako that day because he sensed a great power in her, and he was in dire need of extra allies. There was a secret, underground anti-human organization called Dark Kingdom, and it had started to spread it's reach in recent years in different factions around the world. It was comprised of mutants who believed they were superior to humans, and had been brainwashing and kidnapping regular people via subliminal messaging and scams in decoy shops. Artemis was one of the mutants who fought against them and their endeavors, as he didn't believe that one species was superior to the other. However, he had been sorely lacking in partners strong enough to make a dent in their efforts. Which was where Minako came in, naturally.

He offered to help bring out her as-of-yet unawakened abilities and help develop them if she agreed to help him, which...she was still reluctant to do, since it was alot to wrap her head around. She eventually gave in, though, and Artemis decided to stick by her for the time being disguised as her pet cat. His boss had developed special technology suits that channeled and enhanced the hidden powers of mutants (which...inexplicably looked like a sailor fuku, but no one bothered to question it) and gave them to Artemis to equip on any potential partner he found (in his case, Minako). He decided it was best to have her take down minor threats first, as in muggers and regular thugs, before focusing on the larger targets. Minako, however, even made taking down petty criminals into a flashy show, and soon, people around Tokyo started talking about the beautiful, mysterious vigilante who called herself Sailor V. The nickname was technically Sailor Venus, as she decided to go along with the mythology trend Artemis had set up, and what better name to give yourself than the goddess of love and beauty? It also matched up with the powers that her suit had been able to draw out of her, as the Japanese name for Venus had the kanji for metal in it's name, and she found she could manipulate metal and it's reflections to an extent.

Despite Minako creating a name for herself in Tokyo, and therefore showing the Dark Kingdom there was a new opponent defending the normal masses, Artemis decided to send her overseas for a while. There was another base of the DK that he had found in England, and he needed to get her powers fully awakened as soon as possible. So they went (telling her mother it was study abroad program), and spent nearly a year over there taking on criminals and other DK agents in the process, and making the name Sailor V an international phenomenon. Once Minako's powers had finally emerged without the fuku, they went back to Tokyo, ready to take on the DK at full force. However, what Artemis didn't know was that one of his partners, Luna, had been doing her own searching of allies as well. She ended up finding a number of other girls who had latent mutant abilities hidden within them, and decided that, instead of Minako working on her own to fight these forces, she should work in a team instead. Minako herself was overjoyed that she wasn't alone in her fight against the Dark Kingdom, and they became a close-knit group of heroines. Artemis' boss had even sent them improved suits, that were more uniform with one another, that cemented the fact that they were indeed a team now.

And so, for the next few years, they became Tokyo's unofficial vigilante group, who served justice to petty villains, while taking on more sinister characters in the background. They became something akin to an otaku icon, with their mini-fuku outfits and sentai-like teamwork, and, while it did get draining on each of the girls' personal lives, they felt it was their duty to protect their city as best as they could. Then two events happened that seriously shook that resolve.

One happened to be when the boyfriend of one of the members of the group ended up getting kidnapped and manipulated by the Dark Kingdom.

The other happened to be the catastrophic dimensional rift in Japan.

The two ended up happening in relative proximity to one another, and it was enough to rattle the Sailor team's confidence. They were supposed to protect the innocent from harm, and they ended up failing.

Luna, knowing that it was indeed a huge blow to recover from, suggested they took a hiatus for the time being, which they did. Minako, being the first to awaken, had felt particularly responsible, and in her case, Artemis had recommended going to Xavier's to try to adjust again. She could still attend school like a regular girl, and she could further hone her powers so she could be ready when the team decided to get back together again. Heartened by this, Minako agreed, and once she had her transfer papers sorted out, she left.

PERSONALITY: Minako, in a nutshell, is a perky ball of exuberant sunshine. She goes through things she likes with great zest, be it celebrity stalking or trying to impress a boy or just making her friends' lives a little brighter. She's cheery (though can be easily angered), goofy and forward to almost the point of ditzyness, and her occasional bouts of clumsiness just puncuate it all the more. However, just because she's a blond doesn't mean she lacks a brain (though it can be rather scattered). While her enthusiasm for school and homework is certainly lacking, (which results in her not-so-stellar grades and tardy record), she is a brilliant and determined leader underneath. Since she was the first to be recruited by Artemis to fight against the Dark Kingdom, she has more experience than the other girls and uses it to their advantage. However, since most of the girls were used to Usagi as their leader before she arrived, she sometimes doubts her abilities as one. None the less, she always remains optimistic and resilient, even when she has her more serious and mature leader mode on. She believes in her duty to protect the weak and stop the oppression of both humans and mutants alike, and sometimes she finds herself sacrificing some of her dreams in order to maintain it.

Her hobbies also reflect her personality rather well too. Stalking the tabloids and well-known celebrities is among on of her favorite things to do, and she'll always be the first to have the latest dish on a certain singer or actress, and know the latest styles. She is obsessed with fame and stardom, and one of her major goals in life is to become a well-known idol, outside of her mutant talents. This leads her to get rather competitive and determined to be the very best, sometimes overestimating herself or not thinking about what she's landing herself into until it's too late. This also happens a LOT when it comes to her romantic endeavors as well. Minako is in love with the concept of love, and she is a romantic, through and through. It was why she decided to call herself Venus, and she takes the title almost a little too seriously sometimes, preaching about dating advice and calling herself "the Goddess of Love". Sadly, as much as she goes on about it, she has very little relationship experience of her own. It's not because she isn't into any guys, oh no; she is attracted to anything cute that has a penis, and is constantly fawning over a new boy and trying to nab one for her own. She is rather fickle, though, so if a romance doesn't fall through quickly, she's on her feet to the next charming boy who catches her eye. Lastly, she is surprisingly athletic! Volleyball is one of her favorite sports, and she can kick ass at marathons and any other sort of physical activity to boot. However, it doesn't extend to home life, as she can be amazingly lazy and content to spend her free time eating, reading manga and watching anime.

One more thing to note is...she has a strange habit of mangling sayings and proverbs into something completely opposite. Stuff like "all work and no play makes John a happy boy!" instead of "dull boy", and so on and so forth. No one really knows why she does it, really.

APPEARANCE: Minako, like most Japanese girls her age, is rather petite, and measures up to about 5'1. She has long, flowing blond hair that falls straight to her bottom, which she keeps tied up with a perky red ribbon, and rather large, deep blue eyes. She's on the thin side, but she's in pretty tip-top shape thanks to her enthusiasm for sports.

Fashion-wise, I can imagine she errs towards the end of trendier, stylish-but-cute wear, like frilly tops and flouncy minis, or a nice pair of slim-fitting jeans. Pretty much...if it's in Seventeen or Cosmo!Girl, she'll wear it. Bonus points if it's in the warmer color range.

She also has her sailor power suit on her, in case of emergencies/needing it for training, and...it's pretty much a white leotard with an orange sailor collar/mini-skirt and a blue bow, with matching orange sandals and long white gloves. Pictures explain more than words :( It's not shown in the image, but she also wears a heart-linked chain around her waist, which aides her in her attacks as well. The tiara helps deactivate the suit when she doesn't need to use it anymore.

POWERS: Her main ability, which she can do with or without her sailor power suit on, is metal manipulation. Minako can shape and shift any type of metal to her will, be it pulling apart building beams to create a distraction, or bending the lock to someone's door. The softer and less dense the metal, the easier time she has controlling it, though she's been known to bend and pull apart stronger types with enough concentration.

With her power suit on, she can also manipulate the reflections of light on metal, to an extent. She can beam it towards an enemies eyes to blind them momentarily, or, with enough effort, make it almost laser quality strength to cut through something. However, since she can only tap into it when she's in her senshi uniform, she doesn't have as much control over it as she does with her metal ability.

ANYTHING ELSE?: Since the Sailor Senshi were big in Tokyo, it'll be natural for other Japanese students to recognize them from there, if they so wish ;3;
