At the End
G, friendship
They would always be there for each other
A/N: I haven't written in a while. Short drabble. I wanted to write something small since inspiration hit me the other day while I was listening to a song. For loveisonthemenu ♥
“Will you be there for me when the world stops turning Hyukjae?”
“Now, why would you ask me that Donghae?” Hyukjae says sleepiness in his voice.
Donghae shifts under his blanket, hoping he won’t wake Siwon with his very late-night long distance phone conversation with Hyukjae. “I don’t really know.”
“Well, I’m here for you when right now when the world is turning.” Hyukjae says as he rubs his eyes. He’s tired, but never too tired to talk to Donghae.
“But there’s a difference.”
Hyukjae harrumphs making Donghae laugh softly.
There really isn’t a difference because Donghae knows Hyukjae will always be there for him. They’d been through so much together and apart. He being in China and Hyukjae in Korea didn’t change anything. The distance couldn’t break the bond they’d created but it taught them to cherish their friendship more.
Hyukjae listens to Donghae to slow breathing. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale… It seemed to match the beating of his heart, a place where Donghae held a huge part of.
“Hyuk ah?”
“Mhm?” Hyukjae rolls onto his side to face his vanity. In the darkness his eyes settle on a picture of him and Donghae.
“You know what; you don’t have to my answer my question. I know the answer."
“I know you know the answer because I know it too, but I’ll tell you anyway.” Hyukjae’s fingers reach out to touch the picture. It's just one of the many pictures he has of the two of them. “I will be there for you when the world stops turning and every moment before that.”
Donghae sniffles a little, trying not to tear up at the sincerity of Hyukjae's words. He knows they're true. “I will too Hyukjae. I promise.”
“I know you will.”
Donghae ends up crying a little anyway and Hyukjae teases him for being a crybaby. Donghae lets it go just this once. As he softly sings “My Everything” as a lullaby to Hyukjae, he thinks that he wouldn’t want the world to stop. He wants it to keep going and going so he can make many more memories with Hyukjae.
