The Doctor glared across the room with his arms folded where Donna stood chatting happily away with Captain Jack Harkness as the TARDIS returned the immortal man to Torchwood. Donna had a huge grin on her face and was practically flirting away with him. It wasn’t fair. That Jack, he always had a way with the ladies, particularly the ladies that travelled in the TARDIS with the Time Lord. First Rose, then Martha, and now Donna. Of course, the Doctor had minded a bit when Jack was putting the moves on Rose and Martha…they were his companions after all. He’d just wanted them to stay clear of the sneaky Time Agent. But when he saw Donna so taken with Jack, laughing at all his jokes and sharing secret looks with him, the Doctor couldn’t help but feel…well he didn’t know what he was feeling.
It didn’t feel like anger, maybe a bit like frustration, perhaps even…no, it couldn’t be that. Could it? He, the Doctor, the Last of the Time Lords, the Oncoming Storm, couldn’t possibly be feeling particularly envious, least of all envious of Jack! After all, what was there to be jealous about? Oh nothing much, really, except for the fact that he’d rather be the one with whom Donna was flirting shamelessly, making her laugh, sharing those secret glances with. Well, he’d never admit it to anyone, especially Jack. He would have a field day if he knew. And besides, Donna would slap him if she ever found out that he was starting to think of her in that kind of way. Little did the Doctor know, she had only flirted with Jack to make him jealous…and she had succeeded.
