Been a while, been a while.
Wednesday: We all piled in the car and drove to LA, but there was a lot of traffic so it took a while. My cousins Rachael and Sam were at my grandparents' when we got there, and we all walked to LMU and looked around. It was okay, I guess. I wasn't really feeling it. Rachael pretty much ordered me around the rest of the day...for a 7-year-old, she sure is bossy. We watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which I had already seen with Nic, and then talked and stuff. Played cards, that sort of thing. Oh, it was a party all right.
Thursday:
Mom, Dad, and I visited Occidental and UCLA. Occidental was really pretty, but really small, and I felt like I would get mugged if I stepped outside the campus. UCLA was beautiful, if you like huge brick buildings and a lot of sun, which I do. Westwood is awesome too. The campus isn't even really huge, but there's so many students...I'd hate that. I hate feeling like nobody knows me...that I have no effect on my surroundings at all.
Friday:
Left the grandparents' and stopped at dad's old college friend's office. He showed us around Orange County, and we looked at UCI, which was really big and seemed to have no organization at all (but good musical theater), and Chapman, which was wayyyy too small. We stopped at his house and I saw Andrew again (cute) and talked to this UCI professor. Then we drove to Carlsbad and surprised Lauren at the bakery. I talked with her parents while we waited for her to get off work, and then we ate really good food. Except the bread didn't really happen. But oh well. We rented "White Oleander," but talked for a while when we got back to Lauren's so I started falling asleep during the movie....oops. Tika fell asleep on my lap too.
Saturday
Lauren's dad drove us to...someplace...downtown....where we ate (not the pecan waffles, or whatever we were going to have) and walked around. We went to the beach which was gorgeous, but really, really windy. I wish our beach was that close. If I try to go, it's even windier, and cold, and the water is almost frozen, and it's usually dark and cloudy. Anyhu, then Sara called Lauren and we went to see a movie and went out to dinner with my family and hers...haha the chocolate swan! That was great. (I'm slowly forgoing details as this becomes a novel.)
Sunday
Went to breakfast with the Kunins and my family, except Lauren had rehearsal so we dropped her off at TP. Other stuff happened. Oh yeah, we went to the Wild Animal park. That was cool. I like cheetahs...even their name is fun to say. Drove to Pomona.
Monday
Woke up, and it was a GORGEOUS day in the capital of smog. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky. So we went to the tour at Pomona, but because it's late for seniors and early for juniors, there were 3 other kids and their parents...and one of them was Carter, this senior from my school. Ew, how creepy. But anyways, i LOVED Pomona. Wow. It seems like such a fun place to spend four years (not in the going-out-partying in Westwood kinda way, but it seems like people make an effort to create things to do). The only thing that sucks is that they really have to musical theater....I'd miss that a LOT..but there aren't too many places that do. Anyways, loved it. Then we went home. THE END
Whew. Okay, so since then...
School's been going pretty well. I got my grades for last semester (aside: okay, I got one freaking A- in World Civ Honors, and my parents are all "hm...Nicole, is this really your best work?" I mean, wtf? I'm damn happy with my grades, so just leave it. Ugh.). And yesterday I got back my first Physics test of the semester. 97 BABY! Yeah, I'm excited.
Also, Paymon, Molly, and Jenna got expelled for baking pot in cookies and selling them at school. Oops. That shook up our little prep school a bit.
Rehearsals started almost as soon as I returned for "Pirates of Penzance." It's wickedly fun...I love seeing Sean again; it brings back many memories from Secret Garden (we're planning a reunion...it will be tight). The music director is awesome, but the music is just great...I'd forgotten how funny the show was. But rehearsing take up SO much of my time...Wednesdays and weekends are the only times I'm free at all, and homework takes up most of that.
I've coerced Sean into driving me there, and we got pulled over the other night on the freeway...SCARIEST moment of my life ("Have you had a little too much to drink tonight, son?" "Um, no, I was rehearsing for my operetta..."). We got off with a warning, fo sho.
Socially, I've been having fun. Lindsey and I had a deal in which I would ask Peter to formal if she asked Dan. I, of course, thought this would never ever happen, but it did. Oddly, Peter is REALLY excited about it. Anyways, I've been spending a lot of time with Nic, Embo, and VZ lately. Last Friday we went out to Fresh Choice and stayed there for two hours eating, then went to Starbucks where Lindsey rapped with gang members (hahahaha), then went to Dan's and scared him. Tonight we're going to Scott's play. I hate Scott.
Lastly, for some strange reason, I've been having some unusal luck with guys lately. I just don't know what it is (it's not like I've suddenly mysteriously become pretty), but I've certainly enjoyed the change of pace. Um...Peter's been calling a lot and we've been seeing each other regularly, I talked to Michael from camp this summer often (he's so sweet), Sean asked me out, and good ol' Matt decided to call and ask me to dinner. That was interesting...um...things have gotten intense in that arena.
I think every girl deserves to be called beautiful every so often. It makes one hell of a difference, guys, believe me.
ANYWAYS
Matt introduced me to the pianist in Bon Jovi, who's the composer of the show he's in. That was cool.
