Ben and I learned something mighty useful last night. Ever wanted to know how to curb long distance costs?
Ben just invested on a Victorian virtual number and it costs $3/month. Now I can call him like a local free call from any phone (including my cellphones) and the call will directly route to his house line in VT. If for example his Net connection goes down (like it did last night) it'll just route to any other phone of his choosing (which is his Sprint cellphone) so he never had to miss a call ever again.
$3/month vs $xxx.xx of LD charges?
Methinks he'll stick with the $3/month on top of his Vonage costs ($24.99/month).
I'm just happy about the discovery because now I don't have to play phone tag with him all the time (call his landline, wait for 2 rings, hang up to cue him to call me back since he's the one with unlimited LD) to get his attention. Now I can call him unlimited from my end for free 24/7.
Maybe I'll drag him and make him post his discovery when he gets off work later on today if there anyone out there who's interested in killing domestic/international long distance charges once and for all.
