“This was an awesome idea,” Owen said, sipping champagne.
Gwen toasted him. “I agree completely.”
Tosh nodded. “Yes, but where did we get the money to take the whole team on a cruise? And who’s watching the rift?”
Jack just shook his head and smiled. “Don’t worry about it, Tosh. I’ve got it all covered.”
Ianto snorted, and the rest of the team looked at him in confusion. “Nothing.”
“What do you know that the rest of us don’t, Teaboy?” Owen asked.
“Oh, nothing important. I just find it amusing that Jack considers leaving Martha and one other UNIT operative having it ‘covered’.”
Now the team turned to stare at Jack. “What? Martha’s very capable. She’s experienced more than you guys can know about. I trust her.”
“All by herself?” Tosh asked.
“She’s not by herself,” Jack protested, looking huffy. “She has someone there to help her.”
Ianto chuckled. “I’m sure she’s fine. Probably never has a moment’s rest, but otherwise fine.”
“Well, we never get much, either. So you all should just take this opportunity that I’ve given you and go with it,” Jack said, smiley and putting one arm around Ianto.
Owen nodded. “I’m just counting my blessings that you managed to book us spots on a Christmas cruise. I think this might beat my last five Christmases combined.”
Tosh nodded in agreement while Gwen said, “Yeah. I wish you would have let me take Rhys with us, though.”
Jack just shrugged. “I couldn’t afford to pay for someone who doesn’t work with us. Plus, just consider this team bonding.”
Ianto snorted again, gaining more looks from the team, with the exception of Jack, who was carefully avoiding looking at Ianto. “Trust me when I say you don’t want to know what ‘team bonding’ means.”
Owen blanched while Gwen and Tosh just looked shocked. Jack tried and failed to hold back laughter. “No,” Owen agreed. “We really don’t.”
