Caffeine is Caffeine

Gwen sat down at her desk, a mocha frappuccino from Starbuck’s in hand.  She took a small sip, wanting to savor the taste.  Not as good as Ianto’s, but a worthy substitute, nonetheless.  She put the cup down and logged into her computer.  Work.  It was never-ending.

“Gwen,” Jack said, standing beside her desk.  She jumped.  When did he get there?  “I need you to go down to the archives and find me those files on the Lyiug Htdilh.  I want to cross-reference something before we try to confront it.  I know from past experience that those things are not fun to deal with.”

“Wouldn’t it be better to have Ianto look for it?  He’s the only one that understands that can find anything down there.  Plus, I don’t think I could spell Loo-ig whatever it’s called if my life depended on it.”

“Loy-ig Hit-tih-dil,” Jack pronounced slowly for Gwen’s benefit.  “And Ianto’s out with the flu today, hence your Starbuck’s.  I honestly can’t understand why you would sink so low, but I guess caffeine is caffeine.”

“Well can I bring the coffee with me?” Gwen asked, desperate.  She needed her caffeine fix or she might collapse, but she knew that Ianto had a strict no-anything-that-could-damage-anything policy about the archives.

“Of course not.  Are you kidding me?  Do you want to be the one to explain to Ianto why there are coffee stains on the records?”

Gwen sighed.  “No….  I guess not….  I guess I’ll be back up in a few hours, then, assuming I don’t get lost down there.”

Jack chuckled.  “You’ll be fine.  We can always reheat your coffee when you get back.”

Gwen shuddered.  “I’d rather drink it cold.”
