avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Haru[personality] On first impression, Haru would be considered kind and helpful, a champion of those who are oppressed and a believer in justice. He would gladly help out anyone in need and can be quite comfortable with others, having no issue with revealing personal things to what amounts to a perfect stranger. This is evidenced by his willingness to openly discuss his father's imprisonment and how it's affected him with Katara- a girl he just met (and the lead female of the series). He's not self-centered, however, and shows empathy and insight when talking to others, allowing them to share themselves with him. He displays this when Katara relays to him her feelings about the loss of her mother at the hands of the Fire Nation. This isn't to say that he shows those less fortunate pity or treats them differently. He sympathizes with those who are suffering but clearly recognizes their talents, encouraging and respecting them while also giving credit where it is due. He takes pride in his own abilities as well but isn't arrogant, happily praising Katara for “saving” him. Not just once but also publicly when we meet him again later on in the series. He's quite fun-loving as well, and when not bogged down by troubles, is definitely a playful teen, ready to enjoy all that's around him.
He's a good loyal son, relatively responsible. He's stayed by his mother's side through all of their trials - doing his chores, working on the farm, and assisting her in their daily living. He does show signs of typical teenage rebellion, however - the first scene with him in it he's earthbending, clearly in defiance of the law at the time. His mother scolds him soundly for his actions once revealed but he does not talk back so that rebelliousness only goes but so far. He is clearly not a natural liar and stumbles when trying to insult the gang and make up excuses for his actions. He didn't seem to have any problem with allowing a female to speak for him, though, as when Katara protests his censure, he allows her to do so. I believe this not only shows that he has respect for women, which makes sense since he's been under his mother's care for the past five years, but that he may have difficulty speaking up for himself at times.
With the war going on and his subsequent sheltering by his mother due to his earthbending abilities, I can see this giving rise to the idea that he is still a virgin. After his father was freed from prison, Haru accompanies him as they liberate Fire Nation occupied villages thus leading to the conclusion that Haru would have been exposed to army life and the licentious conversation of the older soldiers, expanding the sexual education he no doubt received growing up on a working farm and from his father. He did spend a good deal of his adolescent and puberty years alone with his mother so his father may not have had “the talk” with him until recently. He seems comfortable talking to girls, however, and has no problem casually touching one during conversation. Nevertheless, he doesn't seem to react well to spontaneous hugging.
When we first meet Haru early in the show he is still quite cautious. He rarely smiles and is somewhat brisk when speaking, acting almost stoic in nature. There is a reason for this. His country is at war with the Fire Nation and his village is enslaved since there is a coal mine nearby and the Fire Nation navy uses coal to fuel their battle ships. The earthbenders staged a revolt but were defeated. It is now forbidden for anyone to use bending and if found violating this edict they are arrested and taken away. His father was captured five years before we meet Haru. He's quite bitter about the things that have happened to him and his people and tends to sulk when discussing them. He mentions that “everyone in the village is too much of a coward” to fight against the occupying Fire Nation soldiers which, of course, would include himself. Later on in the series you see him hiding behind a pillar while the group is under attack by a laser wielding assassin yet a few episodes after that he's fighting alongside the others during a large battle. I believe this shows that Haru requires others around him to embolden him to act on what he wants to do. He is not naturally courageous. He needs to be inspired and encouraged. He doesn't act against the antagonist until the very end of his intro episode, again only after being galvanized into it by Katara's words and the dismissal of them by the prison commandant.
In latter episodes, Haru displays a slightly different attitude. His mood seems somewhat lighter, more confident. He smiles more and is friendlier, happier. This stands to reason since he’s now been fighting alongside the father he thought he’d lost and other earthbenders for approximately the last six months, freely using his bending for the first time in five years. Knowing this and from other things mentioned in the show canon, he more than likely has seen horrible deaths and probably killed people himself. In a close combat physical war like the one they were engaged in it's inevitable. Consequently, when things take a turn for the worse, he reverts back to the solemn youth we've seen before. He doesn't return completely to his old ways, demonstrated by his willingness to explore his surroundings, but again with the more serious underlying purpose of finding places to practice his bending.
Even though I am taking him from a canon point before the end of the series, I feel that the attitudes and behaviors he displays at that time had been already been in place by the time we see him again in the third season which is why I included examples that allude to those episodes. Also since Haru comes from a world that is in the midst of an industrial revolution but has no advanced technology, I will show that some things he may run into in game will confuse him but he will come to understand them quickly enough with help. Haru will be nervous and uncertain at first but I believe his personality traits along with his natural endurance will help him to acclimatize and eventually prosper in the game’s setting.
[orientation] Unknown
[appearance] With his age up, Haru has grown in height several inches and his body has filled out proportionately. He’s tall and muscular but not bulky. He does not yet have the mustache he is seen with at the end of the series.
[wish] Haru wishes that the Fire Nation had never come to his village.
[requested house] Inoshishi or Komainu Household
[misc notes] Haru is an earthbender in his homeworld- with telekinetic powers over any soil, earth, mineral- except refined metal, and gemstone. His abilities will be negated with a jade bracelet. Even without his powers he is still a skilled fighter and soldier, trained in hand to hand combat. He would attempt to continue this type of training while in Ukiyo.

[The feed cuts on to show Haru sitting outside near the rock garden. He’s wearing a light-colored yukata with a dark patterned sash and his long hair is pulled back into a pony tail at his nape, with two long locks framing his cheeks. He rubs his chin, looking around before clearing his throat and starting to sing- or attempting to. What comes out of his mouth isn’t exactly pretty but it’s clear he’s trying. After a minute, he looks at his device and shakes his head.]
They told me if I had a talent that I could make more money but… I’m not sure this is it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Something that isn’t singing maybe?
I haven't tried dancing yet. Is it hard?
[He stands and slides his zori back on, frowning at them. It's clear that he doesn't like the shoes he's been given.]
Think they would let me do it barefoot?

Haru inhaled slowly at the gentle touch. He was grateful she was being so kind and patient with him. He knew she expected more from him, a certain wildness that the house was known for, but he was still relatively new and even though he’d agreed to this, comfort was coming slowly.
However, he’d learned from his past few experiences that there would be more pleasure if he just relaxed. Keeping that in mind he closed his eyes, trying to concentrate on how her fingers felt tracing his muscles and how soft her voice was as she told him of the things she wanted to do to him. He fell back on his bending training at times like this, listening and waiting to see what would please his customer the most.
Those words brought heat to his cheeks and his body but they also gave him an idea of what she really wanted so when she next kissed him; he met her with far more eagerness than before, sliding his arms around her petite form to draw her close. Her body was amazing to him, unique, with skin soft and smooth as silk and warm curves that he could not believe he was permitted to touch- was actually encouraged to touch. The thought was dizzying… and incredibly arousing.
There was no real reason to fight this, or feel guilt. Perhaps it wasn’t a perfect situation but he felt his parents would not be angry with him for making the best of things. Even before he’d been captured, Haru had been a survivor. He was an earthbender and nothing could shake his foundations. And really, powers or no, this wasn’t much different but was far more enjoyable than his last brush with imprisonment.
