Well, it's officially been one week since I finished my training. And I've worked about 8 shifts and I've opened a banking account as well. I've made almost as much money as I made in my entire summer working at the Dixie last year.
Today was a good day, though. It was the 25th anniversary of Leilani's and they shut down the restaurant for 2 hours to have a fabulous party. The spread was incredible: lamb, scallops, crab cakes, salmon, shashimi and $2 mai tais and margaritas. I wanted to arrive fashionably late so I jewelry window shopped for half an hour. I gained enough courage to venture into Coach and Tiffany's! I picked out presents for myself and found the most gorgeous aqua marine earrings made by a local artisan in a shop next to Tiffany's. And naturally, I will HAVE to buy something at Tiffany's since it's so close to where I work, but it will have to be from the silver collection as I will not be able to afford anything else. Oh, well. Tiffany's is Tiffany's.
I arrived at the party and was chillin' by myself sipping a mai tai and eating delicious shrimp and lamb watching the sun beginning to set and humming "American Pie" to myself. Lorraine walked in with her husband and friend and invited me to sit at their table. I proceeded to have 4 or 5 or infinity number of margaritas (hell--I lost count) while talking and laughing at dirty jokes with them. It was a great time. We shot the breeze for about another hour when we parted ways and I took the bus back home. My mom, for some strange reason, called me randomly and was telling me a story which I swear was in Vietnamese because I didn't understand one word of what she said. So, I'll have to call her back and make up some reason, other than inebriation, as to why I couldn't understand her.
All in all, today was a very good day. And I have tomorrow off. If I had my debit card, I would venture to "the other side" of the island and go shopping. However, I don't yet so I'll spend all day at the beach catching up on my reading. The only thing that would top today off would be a phone call from abroad...
