On Vox: My comic adventures of the FUTURE

Hey ladies and gents.  Here's another post, being double posted to Livejournal.  Lovely, isn't it?  You're all more than welcome to come on over here to Vox.  The water is fine.

Here's a couple of series I've been following:

Runaways

A series literally about a gang of Runaway children.  The book follows a small group that discovers their parents are part of an evil organization called "The Pride".  But it's not to say that the series is not for the mature.  There is plenty of death, scandal, and sexual innuendo to go around for the whole family, providing that your family is above the age of 14.  It also features a series of popular superheroes, such as Wolverine, Captain America, Cloak, and Iron Man, as well as a few lesser known heroes, such as Chamber and Turbo.

The series seems to have quite a bit running for it so far.  It has a somewhat promising story (even if it is a bit of a stretch on some parts), though I do have a complaint that the characters need to be more likable.  They are meant to be, and yet I find myself being annoyed by all but two of the Runaways. Hopefully, it will get better in time.  Like cheese.

The Iredeemable Ant-Man

This is probably my favorite serious type comic on the market at the moment.  Ant Man is about regular surveillance man Eric O'Grady, a bastard in his own respect, who pulls the newly created AntMan suit (of Hank Pym and Scott Lang fame), off of his dead best friend, and uses the suit to his own whims.  And I don't mean saving people and the greater good and what not.  I'm talking about beating up crooks to date women.  Spying on said women in the shower.  Stealing.  Hell, in his free time, he probably steals candy from babies and punches pregnant women.  He truly is an asshole of an unlikable superhero.  I love it.

The series is created by a man of the name Robert Kirkman.  If the name sounds familiar, it's because he's written series like Invincible, The Walking Dead, Marvel Zombies, and Battle Pope.  The man is truly a genius in his writing skills, and who am I to stop him.  If you enjoy this, be sure to check out The Astounding Wolfman, available on Free Comic Book Day (May 5).

Well, there you go.  A review of a couple comics that I think you might all enjoy.  Hopefully, it inspires you to go out and buy a couple of comics from your local newstand or comic shop.  And once again, be sure to stop by a comic shop near you on May 5th, to pick up a flurry of free comics on the best holiday of the year, Free Comic Book Day.  Check it out at http://www.freecomicbookday.com/  for a list of comics available on that day.
