Heading to Phoenix

Vacation time, yay!  After all the snow, it should be nice enough.  Going to help my baby sister with her baby.  Not taking DH and kids, because I am just sure we'd all be chaotic, plus, ds has school anyway.  And I don't think my kids would be impressed with a 4 week old baby.  Anyhoo, we'll probably see the baby at six months later this summer.

Work is chaos, but I think we'll get through it.  I think I'm due to get out and do something else for a bit rather than fret over everything that needs to happen.

I'll miss my dh, ds and dd though.  I realized that ds is not a little boy anymore.  My dh said when ds had a friend over, that friend asked him about his Thomas trains (omg do we have a ton of trains)  and ds said he used to really like them but he doesn't play with them anymore.  That brought a tear to my eye.  I knew he didn't play with them, but to have him make that statement, I felt so sad.  And dd doesn't look like a toddler much.  Today she was looking at the Land's End catalog and telling me what she wanted to get for clothes.  It cracked me up, but another wakeup call about how my kids are getting older.  Before I know it, they'll be driving cars and I'll wonder when I got gray hair.

You all enjoy your weather, and I'll be enjoying mine.   I don't know how often I'll get on-line while helping with a newborn, but maybe I'll get a pic and send in an update.  Cheers!

BTW, I have a dress decided on for some cranberry colored cotton broadcloth I got.  It's out of the Gilded Age of Fashion.  However, I have to go look for some cotton print for an overskirt and inset panel in the bodice.  And I need to figure out how I'm going to enlarge it and find some muslin to make a mock up.  But at least I've chosen something I like.  I am thinking of using the same print to make a polonaise for dd, when I pick it, and making her an underskirt of my cranberry fabric.  It would be so cute matching.  Tricky thing is, I have 4 1/2 yds of 108" fabric, so I'm not sure how far it will go.  The underskirt will be of another fabric, with deep flounced pleats of the cranberry covering the bottom, so I should be able to squeeze out a 4 year old's underskirt as well.  Again, I need to get good period shoes for a 4 year old. argh.

(*quick wave* to you who just mutually friended me [you know who you are] hope you enjoy my posts as much as I've enjoyed yours)
