Hi, I read your comment on abinormal's livejournal entry about having a big baby and I found her entry through a birthtrauma community we both belong to. I also had a big baby almost 2 years ago (though only 9 pounds 2 ounces) who had a shoulder dystocia. She was injured pretty badly, they broke one arm and her other arm was paralyzed. I've just discovered I'm pregnant again and I'm really, really scared about another shoulder dystocia and am trying to learn everything I can about how to try to have a smaller baby and about how to help a stuck baby to turn or to get better positioning to start with. Can you direct me to any good information you've found? I'd never even heard of the Brewer diet before reading your post, (I've looked it up now) but what you wrote about normal amounts of protien made a lot of sense to me. Thank you for sharing that.
Well, I can give you some encouraging news! I'm 39 weeks today, and we have an estimated baby weight of 7 lbs 12 oz or so, according to palpation. My fundal height is 38cm at 39 weeks. The growth curve has been so different this time from my two giant babies! I'm obviously hoping for baby to come sooner rather than later, but a baby who is about 8 lbs or a little over at 40 weeks is a far cry from an 11 lber at 40 weeks.
