Mark wandered in, bundled up tight against the cold. He pulled his scarf down off his face and gave a rare smile. "Oh hey, cookies!" He reached out to swipe a bit of dough from the bowl. "One of the few ways past my thick, cynical armor!"

"NO!" Priestly bellowed, swatting Mark's hand away with the back of his hand. "These cookies are for Dinah only!"

"Woah." Mark snatched his hands away. "You're . . . being even weirder than normal."

"What's going on out here?" Tia leaned in from the hallway to the bedrooms. "Some of us are trying to get some work done."

"Priestly's making cookies and won't let me have any," Mark whined.

"They're for Dinah!" Priestly repeated, eyes a little too wide. He wasn't supposed to poison his roommates! "They're her special cookies!"

"Oh my god, he's finally cracked." Tia came over, hands out like she was approaching a feral cat. "It's alright, Priestly. No one wants to steal Dinah's special cookies."

"Better not," Priestly grumbled, and started spooning the dough out onto the cookie sheet. "That would be bad."

"Finally asking her out, huh?" Tia asked.

Mark scooped up Stevesie, who was making little distressed chirps. "Is cookie dough supposed to be slightly green?"

"I'll have you know I have a girlfriend," Priestly said primly, making sure the dough was evenly spaced and not too crumbly. ". . . And they're special cookies. Organic."

Arsenic was an organic compound, right? Or was it a metal?

". . . So you already asked her out?" Yeah, Tia figured he couldn't possibly mean anyone other than Dinah. Momo and Karla were going to have to make her a t-shirt.

"'Organic.' I see." Mark nodded knowingly, tapping the side of his nose with the hand that wasn't trying to keep Stevesie off the counter. "Planning a fun night, huh?"

"Actually, she asked me out," Priestly said, giving another dopey smile. "This was totally her idea."

They were talking about Ms. Arlene Queen, right? And yeah, poisoning Dinah in front of Barbara would totally be fun!

"Our little Priestly, all grown up." Tia mussed his hair with her hand, then reached for the paper bag. "Whatcha got in here? Some hooch to go along with the treats?"

"Noooo!" Priestly snatched the bag away before she could get a look inside. "That's a secret!"

Tia backed up a step, hands up. "Okay, Romeo." She caught Mark's eye and jerked her head back towards the back of the apartment. "Actually dating makes you a little crazy. I can respect that. We'll just leave you to do your thing."

"Thank you," Priestly said primly, sliding the cookie tray into the oven and retying the knot on his apron. "Take Stevesie with you, huh? I don't want him getting hurt."

"By your baking," Mark said, holding Stevesie close against his chest and sidling his way towards Tia and the hallway.

Priestly smoothed the corner of his mustache. "Yes."
