Taystee Diner, New Gotham, the lunch shift, Monday

Priestly had never worked at a place as large as this diner before. It was a bit of an adjustment -- especially when you factored in going from managing Luke's in Fandom to being a lowly peon here -- but he liked his coworkers well enough, no one tried to stick things in his hair, and there were even a few regulars he'd gotten to know working the

"Priestly! Dahling." The regular came in bundled up in an extra scarf and gloves, and sighed in relief as she slumped against the counter. "Something warm and spicy and soothing today, please. Everyone's in an uproar with this wind, and the projects, and I need an excuse to stay away from them a little longer."

Priestly grinned at her. "One Mexican hot chocolate, coming right up, Ms. Queen." The chocolate pot was right by the coffee, so he didn't have to go far. "You know I'm always willing to provide an extra excuse or two."

[gothamlights]

"That is because you are adorable." She sat down with a sigh, unwinding her scarf a bit. "I respect my colleagues, but they can get so... obsessive. I swear they've completely forgotten how to have fun." 'Ms. Queen' reached for her mug. "And how is your Monday? Busy? Frantic? Frenetic?"

"It's a good thing they've got you around to remind them, huh?" Priestly said. "All of the above. I'd say it's looking up now, though."

[gothamlights]

"Mmmmmmm." Taking a sip of her drink, she fluttered her eyelashes at him over the rim of the mug. "You know, I just had a thought. An interesting thought. How late do you work today?"

[lovemykilt]

"I'm off once the lunch rush is done," Priestly said. He looked around the diner and the thinning crowd. "Shouldn't be too much longer. What's up?"

[gothamlights]

"More time for flattery and flirting. If you wouldn't feel pressured to say yes?"

"I'm always up for some flirting," Priestly said. It wasn't entirely true, but Arleen Queen really was a good looking woman, and she definitely seemed to enjoy the attention. "I, uh, have some homework I still need to do, but I could use a bit of a break. . . ."

[gothamlights]

"Superb! I'll be free in an hour or so, after I've delivered the lunch order back to the others." She tilted her head, finger tapping on her lips. "Perhaps dessert somewhere?"

"Dessert I'm not making myself, huh?" Priestly smiled. "We could meet up at the bakery down the street?" He suggested. It'd be nice and public -- which wouldn't necessarily stop the question mark guy, dude had gone after a gala, after all, but would at least leave Priestly feeling a little safter. "I'd just need to check in with my roommates, let 'em know I'll be home a little late. We've been doing a bit of a buddy system since the Arkham break out."

[gothamlights]

"Oh, of course! I should do the same, just in case we're-- intercepted, by one of those miscreants."

Such a great word. Miscreants. Harley Quinn beamed to herself. "And well, too, the girl-buddy system has to be respected. I wouldn't want my friends worry that I was out with a stranger."

[lovemykilt]

"Even a handsome one?" Priestly laughed. "You're totally safe with me. I haven't lived in New Gotham long enough to end up a supervillain."

"You know what they say about New Gotham! You either become the villain, or you die a hero." She wrinkled her nose adorably. "Let's both avoid that, shall we? I'll meet you at that little bakery in an hour. Be prepared to tell me all your secrets, sweetie."

"The deepest and darkest," Priestly said, patting his chest. "Though I'll expect some juicy ones in return."

" I have so many to share. You won't be disappointed."
