College Memories

Apr 18, 2007 23:36

Thursday: It is 11:30 in the pm and I am trying to find a formal dress. I found out at noon that day that I was going to Phi Mu’s formal, Rachel was no longer going and didn’t want her ticket to be wasted. I finally find a maroon one that I like and then go to bed. This day, however, does not count as one of my five days.

Friday: I get up at 8am and go to Tech. Writing and Physics. Right after physics I go to the Beauty College on Lillian because Jenn, Cassie and Stiney are getting up-do’s there. Since they are only $3 there I decide to join them. It ended up taking an hour and a half and I had to go to Sam’s dorm to have her fix it. I mean, by the end I looked like a peacock…but it was only $3 so I’m not complaining too much. By the time I get home I had to get ready for formal which doesn’t take that long. It starts pouring and hailing so I have to run around the parking lot in a dress and try not to get my hair wet. Long story short, I had a lot of fun at formal, and didn’t get to sleep until 1am.

Saturday: We had a sisterhood retreat that night and since I was on the sisterhood development committee I was there at 5pm. That was a whole lot of fun, I brought Guitar Hero I and II. I was pretty tired by the time 5pm rolled around since I was doing homework and cleaning and doing whatever else college students do on the weekend to make their apartment presentable. Got home and went to bed around midnight, but not before packing and finalizing plans with Jenn.

Sunday: I wake up with a runny nose and a sore throat at 7:30am, which is just peachy. I get ready and Jenn and I get on the road by 9:30am. We arrive at Edgefest by 11:45am; by this time, we are pumped!

We start off by seeing the end of The Ataris’ set. We then swing over to the main stage to see Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. We stay to see Bowling for Soup,

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/bandnerdish/BowlingforSoup.jpg

which was a really good show by the way. We had to leave that show early because Jenn wanted to see Say Anything. During that show, we saw many a stoner smoking pot and were asked if we had any shrooms. We decided we wanted to go and get autographs from Bowling for Soup so we miss seeing Jet but we could hear them (trust me… we heard them). We find out that we need a wrist band to guarantee us autographs so I go and buy a $5 pair of head phones because AFI is signing autographs at 4pm and there is NO way I’m missing that. We head back to the main stage because Papa Roach is about to play and we sit down and see him. I leave early to go get autographs only to find out that AFI are a bunch of cock suckers and pulled out of autographing. This would not piss me of as much as it did if it wasn’t for the fact that the last band singing autographs was Blue October, who has at most 3 songs that I can stand. I leave to go back to sit with Jenn and wait except the stands are so packed at the time I couldn’t get to my side. I ended up hanging out with Liz until 5:30pm because she was sitting in the middle and I had nothing else to do. We watch Blue October and I was once again reminded that they are pretty much a mediocre band and I am now REALLY pissed I have to get their autograph. (I know what you’re thinking; I didn’t have to get it. But I already PAID to get the f-ing wrist band and I was going to use it DAMNIT!) I wait in line to get the autographs and end up missing Muse but I can still hear them. This guy was nice enough to save my place in line because the drummer was wearing a Spiderman outfit and I wanted to see :) I get the autographs on my ticket and RUN back to my seat because I haven’t hung out with Jenn in 3 hours and I feel horrible and plus AFI was about to play and I REALLY wanted to see them! I fucking love that band! So we saw them play and they were awesome so now I have to go see them on one of their headlining tours.

Jenn and I basically park ourselves in our seats because the next band is My Chemical Romance. They were really good, I mean really wicked good. It was really exciting to see them right after AFI because those are my bands, I can’t even explain how lame I am.

Anyway, we decide to stay until the Killers, who were up next, to play Mr. Brightside.

They come out and were really good, but after six songs Mr. Brightside hadn’t come up so we decide to cut our losses and leave early. AS we walk out the front gates they start playing it, so we felt really stupid but got to listen to a great song as we hiked back to our car. We get on the road around 10:40 pm, roughly 11 hours after getting there. All of the bands we saw were great, I had so much fun. While at Edgefest I ran into not only Liz, but Paul and Chelsea. It was nice seeing people again! But the day isn’t over, not by a long shot: Jenn and I still have to get to San Marcos! We stop at a McDonalds to eat because stuff at Edgefest is way overpriced and we are poor college students fallowing MCR around part of Texas. The guy who took our order told me I was talking to fast for him and I had to repeat my order around 7 times. Jenn was no help because she was laughing so hard at Bumble the Boy Wonder I kept messing up what I was trying to say. After we ate we stopped at a gas station to fill up on energy drinks. Jenn takes the wheel and now we are into Monday.

Monday: Jenn drives until 1:30am at which point I get a Monster and finish driving to San Marcos. We arrive there at 4am; after I stopped at a gas station because my runny nose has turned into a full fledged cold and I need Dayquil (Jenn is also sick, by the way. I’m pretty sure this trip wouldn’t have been as fun if we were both healthy). We sleep until around 9am and then get ready to go out to eat lunch around 11am. While we were eating lunch we were watching TV about the Virginia Tech shootings and we pretty much just felt sick so we left. I go and say hi to Jenna who happens to live in the same apartment complex as Jenn’s sister Sam. I take a nap and then all three of us watched to news until 5:15pm which was when Jenn and I left for San Antonio. We arrive at the AT&T center around 6:40pm and sit down in our wicked frickin fantastic seats. I can not describe how incredibly great these seats were, when the band came out we were no more than 20 ft from them. I SWEAR!!! We watch Muse, which was their opening band and I finally got to see them perform. After their set I really wish I had seen them at Edgefest instead of waiting in line for stupid Blue October. So Muse was fucking awesome to say the least. By the way, no cameras are allowed in the AT&T center so I have NO pictures which really pisses me off. Anyway, My Chemical Romance plays their show and I am loving them more by the minuet. It was an awesome show, I mean it replaced seeing Eric (who is very catholic) make out with Stephen THREE times as the single greatest thing I have ever seen. After the show, which ended roughly at 10:30pm Jenn and I hop in the car because now we have to be back in Stephenville for class on Tuesday. I drive for awhile and then Jenn drives back the rest of the way. Let me describe how we worked in the car on the way home: we couldn’t hear, talk or breathe out of our noses. Both of us couldn’t understand what the other one was saying half the time so “what?” basically became the phrase of the night. We did agree on the fact that Gerard totally looked at us many times, and it was all due to the fact that Jenn was really hot that night and that we needed to get Muse’s CD.

Tuesday: We get back into town at 2:45am; we traveled 664.8 miles in two days.

The next day in class we pretty much looked hung over. We sounded like bull frogs because of our colds and the fact that we were screaming our heads off two nights in a row. But were not done just yet, we have initiation that night. Since Jenn and I both had littles getting initiated, it was a tad extra stressful. We get at the church at 6pm and of course it was raining like no other so the power was out in the church. We basically set up everything by candle light and with flash lights. The power comes back on and initiation when off with out a hitch, as they say. Afterward we went out to eat at The Agave. What you need to know about The Agave is that the service is really slow and the food isn’t that great. We get done eating dinner and I get home at 11:45pm. This is when I make my post about the 5 busiest days of my life being over.

I am right now sunburned, broke, exhausted and sick…and I can’t wait to do it all again someday!

(And I just bought Black Holes and Revelations)
