I feel like I will relax a great deal once Thanksgiving is over. But, then again, it'll be the rush of Christmas. But I do love Christmas.
Anyhow, I am getting ready to head to Denver for two days w/my mom. She is having a surgical procedure done that they do not do here. They have found a cyst on the duct of her pancreas. As far as we know, it's nothing serious. However, the cyst could have cancerous cells, so it needs to be removed (and biopsied). Praying that all goes well and turns out well. It's been scary waiting to find out what the "spot" was they first detected on an ultra-sound. Luckily, not a tumor.
So, I'll be back Tuesday - hopefully in time for trick-or-treating. I will miss all the kids' school Halloween parties, for the first time. :( I am actually looking forward to going w/my mom, though, as I am never away from my children for days at a time. (Unless I'm in the hospital giving birth to another sibling! :) ) I am looking forward to shopping and reading *alone*. I will surely miss them greatly, though, and they are not very excited that I will be gone. Perhaps they'll appreciate me more when I return. Um, doubt it.
In the meantime, dh will be home tomorrow morning w/C & R and with the 2 kids I babysit on Mondays. He'll take them to pre-school in the afternoon. On Tuesday, my friend (whose kids I babysit on Monday) will take the kids on Tuesday, so he can work a bit. DH asked me to write out some things about the kids' schedules. I replied that there is info. on the calendar on the fridge, but that I would go ahead and jot some things down. WELL, I have 2 pages typed already. I FORGET HOW MUCH I REALLY DO around here. I am glad he asked me for that! I CANNOT WAIT FOR HIM TO TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING THE NEXT TWO DAYS. Of course, I made it VERY easy for him with step-by-step directions. I even picked out C & R's clothes for the next two days and packed their backpacks for school (complete with Halloween costumes, snowpants, hats, gloves, shoes, boots, coats).
He'll NEVER admit that it was a lot of work when I return. NEVER. He's a very hands-on dad and contributes a lot to the household (not just $), but he is someone who can do it all and rarely admits when he can't. I gave birth to a 9lb baby w/out an epidural? No problem. He could probably deliver an 18lb baby. LOL He's not arrogant but confident, I guess. :)
Anyhow, I will return on Tuesday, and then we head out of town on Friday. I am going scrapbooking for the weekend with girlfriends, while Scott & the kids are going to stay w/a friend and his two kids (his wife will be scrapbooking, too). The following weekend, me, my mom and Tay will be heading to Denver to see "The Lion King." Can't wait. The *following* weekend my sister Kristy & family will be traveling here from Iowa for Thanksgiving. Oh, I have to host book club in 1 1/2 weeks, too. I would love to know when I am going to finish the book and clean my house. Hmmm.
There's lots of fun things, but I am feeling sooo pressed to fit it all in.
