last night was nothing short of amazing! ryan's art opening turned out so, so well! there was a crowd in the gallery for over 4 hours and nearly everyone was actually reading all the pieces! ryan even sold enough of his show's catalogs and pdxposed books to break a little bit more than even. thank you so much to those who came, it was great to see you. thank you so much who bought books, you help make ryan feel like a successful artist, which is totally what he deserves after all his hard work! i had a great time grinning at gallery goers, opening the gallery's screen door and telling people to come in and telling people about ryan's books for sale!
ryan's show will be up the rest of this month at the sequential art gallery and there are still some of those books for sale there (for now), so be sure to stop by if you didn't get to last night!
also, since opening night has past, i am totally outing ryan and letting you all know that it's satire.. ryan made the prisoner up - though he did do a heck of a lot of research and visited the state penitentiary (i think?). a couple people who actually went up to ryan to ask him about his work had great reactions upon finding out it was fake, most involved relief that he wasn't a totally self involved jerk writing to a poor prisoner just for an art show...
