Christianity is a prominent religion is most version of the world named "Earth". It's basic tenants are the worship of one diety known simply as God, his human son who is simultaneously an avatar of him, and the essence of his power. The religion has several different denominations that have different dogmas and beliefs, although the most common one emphasizes how the son sacrificed himself for all of humankind's sins.

I see. ... ...Why would he do that?

Essentially, it was an exchange-for humans to attain a happy afterlife, that one had to die. It can be quite bizarre when looked at from afar, but people believed in it.

Afterlife? Doesn't everyone return to the Lifestream?

...That seems a rather cruel reason to kill someone.

...That's where the dead go in your world, correct? It doesn't exist in ours.

Believe me, this was one of the more pleasant things. The religion Christianity originated from had the same diety flood the world so he could start it again.

No? But... how does the planet live?

What? But... that's terrible. Why would he?

I don't think our planet is as 'alive' as yours. I cannot say it is not alive; there are spirits in everything, but they aren't connected.

To punish humanity for their sins. And yet he is called a merciful god. It is contradictory.

I... see. ...It sounds a little strange, but I shouldn't be surprised should I. Every place is different.

Just a little. ...The more I hear the more confusing it sounds.

Indeed

There is a reason that there are varying interpretations of the texts and beliefs of the religion.
