Thanks to the support of family I have fought my way once more through a dark period of my life. Thank you to all those that love me. It means more than can be expressed in words.
I'm home now, back at Briar Rose with my beautiful daughters and Deacon, and just to be here is to find a certain kind of peace, even with all that is wrong in the world. My thoughts go out to those who have lost friends and family in our most recent of calamities.
But in better news, Icarus Burning will be in bookstores sometimes this week. The delay has been to do with legal matters which are nothing to be worried about but just a hassle. Life seems to be endlessly complicated by red tape.
The back cover blurb from the publisher's website: Set in rural Southern USA, this story is a fascinating character study of six women and their relationships to one another. Each of the women is touched by something dark, secretive, or violent. The story follows the lives of Eleanor and her two daughters, Georgina and Kate, Lillian, a widow and social outcast, and Marianne and Violet, the wife and daughter of the town's pastor. As friendships grow and break, all become further entangled in a complicated web of half-truths.
I'm never a fan of the blurbs on books as they often relate very little to the story, but as I cannot condense my oven novels into a paragraph theirs will have to do. I suppose it's a complicated story to unravel quickly on the back of a book.
