Title: Driving
Character: Zoisite
A/N: Written for first-person/driving at sm_monthly .

Have you ever wondered how to tell whether someone is good or bad? It’s easy. Really, really easy. Imagine a crisis. Got it? Okay. Now, as for the person you’re curious about: you want him to do something against his inclination, something he absolutely refuses to do. And now you need to make him to do it anyway.

If you want to blackmail someone who is good, you threaten the ones he loves. If you want to blackmail someone who is bad, you threaten himself. See which one works, and you know what sort of person you are dealing with. As I said, easy.

So yes. We helped destroy a whole civilisation, killed hundreds with our bare hands, walked in blood and in the case of Nephrite and Jadeite, even danced on someone’s grave in drunken stupor after a battle, but we did it for him. We did everything for him. We just wanted to keep him safe.

That’s what was driving us. That’s all that was driving us.

So we can’t be bad, right?

Right?

Oh. Okay. Maybe it’s not so easy after all.

Title: Clouds
A/N: First person/prejudice prompt at sm_monthly . Gah, this was hard.

Her dress is... well, it’s more of a very thin curtain. You can still everything behind the window, if you catch my drift. I look to the floor, careful to hide my expression. Women here don’t dress like this. Mercury doesn’t dress like this.

Venus goes still and when she speaks again, she sounds sad. “It was a lovely ball, General Zoisite, thank you for the invitation.” I nod, and when my gaze travels upwards to meet hers, my eyes lingers on her barely covered breasts for a moment. I blush. Damn. If Jadeite has seen it, the teasing will never end.

***

Those women from Venus... I shake my head and laugh. Poor Zoisite. Still more of a kid than a General and then here he is, with the ambassador shoving her goods right into his face. I grab two goblets of wine and make my way over to them. I hand one goblet to Zoisite and keep the other for myself. Venus was about to leave anyway, wasn’t she?

Damn. I can see her nipples through the white fabric. Unlike Zoisite, I don’t blush. I’m no boy.
So I throw her my most winning smile. “Lady Venus, want me to take you on a tour of the castle?” I wink, and she flinches.

“Thank you, General Nephrite, but I don’t think it would be appropriate.”

Huh. Didn’t expect that from someone like her.

***

I’m watching Nephrite and Zoisite make a fool of themselves and grab a new flute of champagne from one one the trays floating through the crowd. I down it in one go.

I hate these events. Always have. All those women, dressed to the nines in their finery, hoping for some important man to...

Then I imagine Mars in Venus’ dress and feel my pants tighten. Time to call it a night.

***

I follow her to the apparition point. The white chiffon, so thin, so fine, trails after her, making it look as if she was dressed in a cloud. There’s something about this woman the others don’t see, and I’m glad. She’s too good for someone like Nephrite, who hunts after every skirt he sees. Too good for Zoisite, who is just a boy in a fancy uniform. Jadeite is still preoccupied with Mars, so I don’t think he notices any other woman.

Just as she reaches the terrace, the sky opens and rain begins to fall. Her dress becomes completely see-through and my hearts begins to hammer in my chest. Still, I walk to her in measured steps and simply wrap my cape around her. She’s trembling, and I know it has nothing to do with me. I will talk to Nephrite. This will not happen again.

“Safe journey,” I whisper in her ear, and even though she doesn’t turn around, I know she now smiles despite her tears. Then she’s gone and the rain continues to pound on me.
