Title: On Razor’s Edge - Chapter 18
Summary: Crystal Tokyo has arrived. So has Ando Tanaka.
Warnings: All the feels? (Hopefully?)
A/N: This is the last chapter, only to be followed by an epilogue. Massive thanks to Charlie for being the best emotional sounding board anyone could ever wish for.

Enjoy. )
At the same time, between the tears, I could see the natural progression of the world and what Umino was thinking, but like everyone else in the story, I couldn't put all the pieces in place because OH MY BROKEN HEARTED GRIEF wouldn't let me.
I also re-read the entire thing from beginning to end in today, and I think it hurt more because of it. Like, I spent hours with these characters; learning them - their fears and flaws and strengths and weaknesses. I laughed with them, I cried with them, and I mourn for them. Seriously, though, killing Rei AND Ando AND Aiko AND Makoto... and the chinchilla-fur wearing Michiru (still not too fond of her)... that was overwhelming. While Minako, perfect woman that she is, bears an attack from Usagi, the breakfast fairy... OH ALL MY POOR BABIES!
As I said, you're a genius, my friend. And my favorite thing about this story, is that you left no stone unturned. No chance at hope was overlooked. Everyone gave everything that they had in everything they did, and that just makes the despair more palpable.
