I cannot believe what just happened. I mean, I've read it at least eight times now, so I really should at least make an attempt to reconcile myself, but I can't. LYTTON I CAN'T. I suppose that we suspicious folk familiar with your angsty ways saw something like this coming, but...

Forgive the incoherence of this, but when I read this and place it in context with Airmail and the prior chapters of ORE - of everything that Ando and Rei suffered through to find at least a brief time in which to be happy - I'm reminded for the millionth time what an amazing writer you are and what a rich, deep world you've created for these characters. Angst doesn't usually affect me, as you know, but having spent so much time with Takeshi and Minako and Ando at this point...I have to say, this one hit me hard. And by contrast, how good it is to see Minako and Takeshi interacting again, but under what circumstances...your scenes with Minako/Takeshi and Minako/Ando are always just the best and your writing here was no exception.

It's difficult for me to pinpoint all the things I loved about this chapter because it's all so, so good, but believe me when I say that the last scene blows the rest of it out of the water.

Ando, Takeshi, and Minako are my favourite characters to write, so weirdly, this chapter and all that led up to it, all the heartache, all the whiskey, and all the cigarettes in hotel rooms, were a treat for me. I'll miss writing Ando, with this snark and good heart, but he has (had--- dear God, where's my Nutella jar) these incredibly self-destructive tendencies and well, Pluto kind of knew all along...

If everything goes according to plan (and Umino does what I want), it'll only be two chapters tops, plus an epilogue, and then ORE is all wrapped up. Scary!
