Title: On Razor’s Edge - Interlude II
Summary: Crystal Tokyo has arrived. So has Ando Tanaka.
Warnings: Darkness.
A/N: As always, massive thanks to Charlie, who makes things clever and pretty, and to Spirit, who is the resident shitennou expert!

Enjoy. )
It's a surprise to find ourselves once again back in the SilMil, but it's a wonderful surprise. Your SilMil is SO gorgeous and terrible all at once, and so distinctive compared to the present/future. I have no idea how you handle so many timelines going on at once, but color me impressed.
Jupiter doing Mars' hair! Unicorns! *giggle* and... there went probably my last happy thought before anxiety takes over.
"There was something dead about her, something cold. As if loving and losing Jadeite had robbed her of the flame that kept her alive, that made her who she was. This new creature, poised but imperfect under the tree, was a stranger to her." I loved these lines. Beautiful, sad, and so evocative. The comparison of Mercury to a winter morning on earth was a gem that I somehow missed in my first read-through, but it's *so* lovely.
Mars using her broken heart to distract Serenity has to be my most favorite thing about this chapter. It's stuck in my mind all day. Everything about that exchange between Venus and Mars is AMAZING.
I like the mention of the protective charms. I think this is (at least?) the second time that Venus overlooks the details of something regarding magic and it comes back to bite her. It's such a great element because the flaw makes her so much more convincing as both a human and a fallible leader.
No one does V/K quite like you. It's certainly a fascinating relationship when she thinks of sending him Ace's severed head. And every single exchange in that last scene is fabulous. I love Kunzite's comment about Beryl's bloody yet good points and this slow pulling away of the Shitennou that's so frustrating and frightening and inevitable. Brava!
