Enjoy. )
Once again, I am in awe of what an emotional rollercoaster you are able to put me through within the span of one chapter. I go from crying to laughing to cheering to crying to more crying to grinning like crazy to crying some more. It is just hard to keep up with you!
It was the morning after, and for once, the breakfast fairy didn’t deliver.
AGH THIS LINE ALONE IS MURDER. RIGHT IN THE GUT.
Kunzite had been a weapon
Goddamn, if that isn't the most accurate and terrifying description of Kunzite ever written.
Ando put a mug of black coffee in front of him, setting it down with a thunk. It was the one he had made for himself, but Umino looked like he needed it more. “He wouldn’t have hurt me.”
I love this firstly because Ando gave up his coffee for Umino, and that is how we know they are best bros. And secondly, because once again you show off just how infinitely complex your characters and their thoughts and motivations are. Ando, the man who is the LEAST sympathetic of Takeshi, refuses to see him as Kunzite. Maybe because that would mean acknowledging who he is, too. But he is so confident that Takeshi is too strong to become that and agh have I told you lately how much I love Ando?
“Poor bugger.”
“Him being here isn’t a risk,” Makoto exclaimed and extricated herself from the embrace. “I just said he was scary, not dangerous.”
Unconsciously, Hiromasa rubbed his chest, right under his heart. This lifetime, there was no scar. “If you say so.”
AND RIGHT AROUND HERE IS WHERE THE TEARS STARTED. Because Hiro remembers Kunzite threatening to personally execute him because he MIGHT do something that in a convoluted way could possibly endanger Endymion down the road. He remembers Kunzite being a dangerous, terrifying man. And Takeshi is still his friend and he still feels bad for him.
“You need to sell me some girly furniture,” the journalist said and waved his credit card. “Today. Now. So you get out of your grandpa slippers and get cracking.”
Aw Ando you are the very best at making everything okay! And furniture is needed so that means Hiro must come to the rescue! Hiro at last!
“She’s not your friend?” Ando asked and got up, his good mood gone. “You asshole. She had weekly dinners at your house for years. She plays with your kid. She is basically your wife’s sister. Not your friend? Fuck you.”
Ando if you did not have Rei and her couch to not sleep on, I would want to marry you. Seriously, Hiro. You're worse than Mamoru.
“Hiro, I wish I could afford your furniture, I really love it.”
That shut the designer up for good. He’d never even thought of offering Usagi and Mamoru furniture when they had to move into the big palace.
AND THERE'S THE TEARS AGAIN.
Agh and then the house is cold and empty and of course he even cleaned out the fridge. And it's THAT house and that house was their house and it's not meant to be like that at all.
Takeshi had told her that he would come to the palace, sneak in to see her, but as she packed up her possessions, she realised that a part of her didn’t believe it.
;______;
I thought AA was over.

I love this firstly because Ando gave up his coffee for Umino, and that is how we know they are best bros. I think you might have mentioned it once or twice, as has Charlie. Ando can be such a doll, in his own chain-smoking, annoying, caring way. Him giving Umino his coffee is the equivalent of me giving someone else the last chocolate bar in the house. It's a sign of love.
Ando desperately and seriously believes that they are more than the sum of their past lives and that the life they had lived this time around shapes them just as much as the past did. He sees Takeshi as Takeshi and not as Kunzite because he (and that's where you hit the nail on the head) also doesn't want people to see him as only Jadeite and not Ando. Or, to get philosophical, he sees Kunzite as a small part of Takeshi, not Takeshi as a small part of Kunzite.
AND RIGHT AROUND HERE IS WHERE THE TEARS STARTED. Because Hiro remembers Kunzite threatening to personally execute him because he MIGHT do something that in a convoluted way could possibly endanger Endymion down the road. Oh darling, don't cry! Hiro and Takeshi are tight! It was Hiro whom Takeshi called about the house, that means something! But yes, Hiro has memories (and unlike Umino, his are flesh memories) of Kunzite and some scars run deep. He loves Takeshi like a brother, but he is deeply afraid of Kunzite. The only one more afraid of Kunzite? Takeshi.
Seriously, Hiro. You're worse than Mamoru.
That, I believe, is saying something.
I thought AA was over.
It is! That's why this ended on a wedding! :D
(That being said, with Takeshi and Minako, it's AA all year.)
Spirit, thank you so much for your generous and lovely and heart-warming comment! I love it muchly.
