First, I continue to love seeing all this from Ando's perspective. Because it means getting to see Ando be a shit to EVERYBODY, but also with the understanding that he generally tries to do the right thing, and sometimes for him, the right thing is pissing people off for their own good.
I love how there are so many conflicts happening and Ando is becoming the one who is able to navigate everyone's viewpoints, and that makes complete sense, because he's a journalist and listening to people and learning their side of the issue is exactly what he does. He's even able to explain what is happening to Takeshi, when clearly Takeshi would like nothing less than to be understood by Ando.
Poor Usagi, desperately trying to make it work in the palace, when little things like painting the walls just won't happen. And having to save money because who knows how long her husband is going to be able to keep his job with people trying to murder him on the street.
But she is the breakfast fairy! And by the way, that scene in Umino's bed? CUTEST THING EVER. Your Ando/Umino friendship makes me squee every time, and throwing Usagi into the mix just completed the adorable friendship picture.
And then OF COURSE he got them a new dog! Of course it was a dachshund! Of course Hiro is secretly happy. Of course it infuriates Makoto and Ando couldn't care less.
Oh Lytton, how I love this. All of this.

Exactly! With the little things, he just tries to annoy people who annoyed him before, but when he annoys someone big time, then it tends to be because he thinks it needs to be done to yield some greater good.

That's a surprising alliance they have struck up, and an uneasy one too, but Ando (if he really tries) 'gets' Takeshi. Doesn't mean he approves, but he understands.

Usagi just demanded more screentime (she was horribly short-shelved in Airmail), so I wondered what to do with her - other than being queen - and I thought that she would of course get on with Ando because she is much more patient than other people, and Umino, well, everyone loves Umino because he is just really, really nice. And in my book, all of that must lead to breakfast in bed.
Of course it was a dachshund!
Credit where credit is due: Bones is only a dachshund because V kept pestering me with pictures of dachshunds in tutus.
