An Almost Story

Last Night

Around 6:10 in the evening of Friday February 25th, 2005 a lady drives up our long driveway and honks. With my little brother I go to the door to see what it is. A lady asks us if we have lost a horse? I say I don't know, my parents just went to Home Depot we just bought a horse. So apparently the horse broke out of the fence. With Luke, my lil bro, we run and grab a halter and rope and follow the lady in her car, running. We can't find the horse, but the lady has notified the police, a cop comes by and we jump in the car after him urging us to do so. We drive and find that our horse Hancock is trotting nonchalantly down HIGHWAY 99 blocking all lanes of traffic! He eludes us for half an hour. Finally after many stupid drivers, the cop takes away one ladies license because she is a freaking idiot and goes to the left when the cop is trying to get around (cop cars are nice, well the one I was in anyway). So I get out because we are next to the horse and im jogging next him, trying to be as slow as possible so as not to freak him out, because all these drivers are like "OMG A HORSE AHHHHH OMG!" but we finally trap him in the Mini Storage driveway by Airport Road and I put the halter on him and give him the hay that I carried all the way from my house. By this time we've called my parents and my dad got the horse trailer and we took him home. While we were in the storage area tho, the horse was freaking out cuz his horse shoes were slippin all over the place on the pavement, it was scary. The cop said to me, "If this chase had gone on any longer it would probably have made it to the news." It was funny though because there were like 10 cops helping us try to trap Hancock, and they were all joking about how they were cowboys.....this was an interesting night.
