Camp, thoughts, and life

Jun 08, 2007 20:40

Camp was good today, last night was good too, Dani and I went out for dinner and had "girl time" something we both hadn't had with each other for a long time. I got to swim in the lake today with the campers, all 8 of the boys in my little group of 6-8 year olds were so excited to see their councilor swimming in the water with them. they really loved it when I jumped off of the rope swing. I have a picture of the little group, I think I will scan it later tonight when my headache is gone.

I love my job.

Right now, however, my mind seems to be swimming with thoughts, of what was, is, what possibly may be in a near, or prolonged future. Some friendships are fading, others are beginning, and I have seemed to pick up on my dating life. Although, things, as they always do when you get older, feel as if they are becoming much more complicated as people change all about me. Sometimes I just wish that they wouldn't change. When I look in the eyes of my campers, they are so happy, so innocent, so full of love and energy for the world. When I look at my friends (not all, but some) I see anger, frustration, and a desire for things that may never come into their hands. Why can't we all just remain as we were when we were children? So full of hope and love for the world, yes, it is good to learn that the world isn't such a great place, we all have to face that reality...but honestly, what has made our generation, and all generations before us, become jaded? I know time changes everything...but honestly... don't we pick, ultimately, what kind of person, at the end of the day, that we are? So, take in a deep breath, close your eyes, and think of a childhood memory that makes you feel good inside. Now smile....

There, doesn't that honestly feel better?
I think it does.
