“Hideto,” Tetsu pleaded. “Please say something, ANYTHING.” The smaller man sighed from the other side of the glass, shaking his head. “Why won’t you speak? Talking will do so much better for you and-“ The smaller man looked at the police guard and tilted his head towards the exit. “Wait!” Hideto looked at him. “He’s been looking for you. He’s trying to find you. Why won’t you let me tell him?”

The look on the mute’s face told Tetsu not to pry any longer. “I’ll come back tomorrow okay?” The tormented man ignored him, as he walked out of his cell.

The guard looked at him with wonder. “You haven’t spoken at all since you came here. Tetsu-san apparently knows you can talk.” He urged. Hideto ignored him, as he allowed the guard to open his cell.

He walked in and plopped on his bed, staring at the wall blankly. “You know, I can always get you a book to read, a PSP, anything…all you have to do is ask.”

I don’t want anything but Satoru. Hideto thought with a heavy sigh. Since I can’t have him without causing him hell…I might as well just wither and die here. He rested his head against the wall, staring into space.

-       -- - -

Satoru glared at Ju-ken with fury. “I’m sorry! I don’t know where he is!” he wailed, backing away. “I swear I don’t know. I looked everywhere, but the only people who know, are the people Hideto wanted to know.”

“Why doesn’t he want you to know?” Satoru demanded, grabbing him by the collar.

“I-I really don’t know…why are you so mad?” the older man asked, getting scared of the way his ex band mate was looking at him. Satoru began to shake him as hard as he could, glaring at him the way a mobster glares at a snitch who won’t tell him why he did it.

“Because I can’t save him if I can’t find him! Why is he being so irritating?! Why the fuck won’t he tell me where he is?! Why is he trying to make me blow all of Japan to pieces?!”

“Why are you asking me?” Ju-ken asked with a whimper. Satoru glared at him in silence for a while, before dropping him.

“Hideto, when I find you I’m going to smack you.” He growled.

“What do you plan to do if you find him? Is it the same silly idea you had six months ago?”

“….It’s not silly.” Satoru snapped, staring off into space.

“Oh yes it is.” Ju-ken retorted. “You worked so hard, and now you want to do that? Hideto won’t be happy with you. It’s probably why he won’t talk.”

“What do you mean he won’t talk?” Satoru asked, looking at him.

“Ever since he got arrested, Hideto hasn’t said a word.” Ju-ken replied.

“So you’re saying, for six months, he’s been silent?” the younger man asked, going wide eyed. “WHY?!”

“I don’t know, I haven’t seen him so I couldn’t ask.” Ju-ken replied.

“Then how do you know he’s not speaking?” Satoru demanded, storming towards him.

“You both are all over the news, how could I NOT know?” The bassist asked, keeping his patience. Satoru sighed deeply.

“All he has to do is say that I’m alive and I live in America…and all he has to do is say he’s Haido. Why can’t he just do that?”

“Because he doesn’t want to.” Ju-ken said bluntly. “The same reason why you want to do this silly stunt. Do you know what could happen?”

“Do you know that I could careless?”

“Satoru-“

“Ju-ken, you know you’re one of my dearest friends right?”

“….I guess.”

“Good, so you can shut the hell up and help me find Hideto.” Satoru snapped, before stomping across his apartment, to pick up his cell phone.

“You’ve been blowing up everyone’s phones, what makes you think that we know where he is after we told you we don’t?” Ju-ken asked in frustration.

“One of you knows. I KNOW one of his old band mates know, and I will get it out of them, if I have to hang them by their ankles off of a bridge.” The younger man said calmly.

“You scare me.”

“Good.” Satoru muttered, before placing the phone to his ear.

“’Ello?” Tetsu asked with a yawn.

“Where are they keeping Hideto?”

“Satoru, will you stop asking me? I don’t know.” Tetsu whined, rolling over in his bed to cover his head with a pillow.

“I’m not going to stop calling until you tell me.” Satoru warned.

“Fine, fine…I’ll tell you…and when Hideto kills me you’re going to have to help him hide my body, or I’ll haunt you forever.” The irritated musician growled, sitting up.

“Thank you Tetsu, I owe you so much.” Satoru said with a giggle. Ju-ken watched this from across the room with wide eyes.

“Are you serious?”

-       - - -

A week later, Hideto was being dragged to the visiting center again. Why won’t Tetsu understand that I don’t want to talk to anyone? He asked himself mentally, glowering at the floor as if it did something terrible. The guard gently sat him down and walked a few feet away. He looked up…and his eyes went wide. “Thought you could hide didn’t you?” Satoru asked, giving him a wicked smile.

The smaller man’s eyes went wide with shock. “Ah…Ahh…” he gasped.

“I also heard you got all high and mighty and refuse to talk to anyone.” Satoru continued, shaking his head. “All you have to do is tell them the truth and you’ll be fine.” Hideto shook his head, glaring at him. “Why not? Are you afraid they won’t believe you?” The prisoner shook his head violently. Satoru sighed deeply. “You know, this was my fault. I should have listened to you…and I should have fought harder for you. I should have said something.”

The mute glared at him, before rolling his eyes. His voice quivered, as he struggled to form words. “Well, it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m going to make sure, no one ever hurts you again…and it’ll piss you off too.” Satoru said with a genuine smile. “Love you.” Hideto watched him walk away, fuming quietly.

When he does whatever he’s plotting, and I’m free again, I’m going to kill him. He thought. The guard walked up to him and rested a hand on his shoulder.

“He must be very special to get sounds out of you.” He giggled. Hideto glared at him, and tilted his head to one side. “Is he your best friend?”

“….”

“He must be, because he’s so mad at you.” The guard sighed, opening Hideto’s cell. “Something tells me you’re innocent, and if you are…let him help you.” Hideto stared up at him for a moment, before a weary smile flashed on his face.

“Thanks.” He croaked.

“Ah you spoke!” The guard laughed, hugging him. Hideto’s eyes went wide in surprise. “I’m so happy. You deserve an extra muffin when you eat dinner tonight!”

“If that’s the case I should have spoke from the start.” The smaller man giggled hoarsely.

“Why didn’t you want to speak anyway?” The guard asked.

“….I figured, that because I lost him, there wasn’t a point in living. To speak, eat, or breathe is to live right?”

“Why’d you eat?” The guard asked.

“After being force fed the first night, I decided that one wasn’t worth avoiding.” Hideto admitted, massaging his throat.

“I see…What are you going to do now?” The guard asked. “Are you going to tell them what happened?”

“Nope.” The smaller man said bluntly, sitting on his bed. “I have nothing to say to them.”

“But why?”

“…Because this case isn’t real.” Hideto said bluntly. The guard shut the cell and locked it, completely confused as to what he meant.

-       - - - -

“You are so stupid.” Yukina growled, smacking her brother upside the head. “If you do this, you’ll ruin everything you worked so hard to gain!”

“I don’t care.” Satoru replied, picking up a pair of scissors. “Are you going to help me or what?”

“….Fine, but don’t include me in the worst part of your madness.” The woman grumbled, cutting his hair in a nice, expensive looking hairstyle. “There, now what?”

“I go shopping.” Satoru replied with a huge smile.

“Do I come with you?”

“No, I’m alright.” Satoru sighed, before walking out the door.

-       - - - -

It’s been a week and a half since Hideto got that surprise visit…and no one came to see him since. Now he’s dealing with another date in court. How lovely. He’s sitting in the witness stand, even lovelier. “Is it true that you talk now?” The lawyer against him asked, casually pacing back and forth in front of the prisoner. Hideto remained silent, staring at him dully. “Why won’t you speak? We all know you can talk very well.”

We all know that if I kick your ass you’ll scream like a pansy. Hideto thought, giving him a confident smirk.

“What’s that smile for?” The lawyer demanded. The small man quickly shook his head, still smiling.

“Doesn’t he know that, acting that way will provoke him?” Yuki asked, gawking at him.

“He’s so stubborn.” Junji sighed, shaking his head. Hideto smiled, resting his feet on the stand…in the wrong way. He began to examine his nails the way Satoru had a habit of doing.

“Takarai-kun, stop that.” The judge ordered. The smaller man stared up at him and blinked, not moving an inch. “You behave so well…but if you keep that up, I’m holding you for contempt.” Hideto sighed, and placed his feet down.

“Are you done acting like a child?” The lawyer asked, glaring at him. Hideto stuck his tongue out at him, making most of the court room gasp in surprise. The judge held a hand to his lips, hiding his smile. “No further questions…I hope you get the death penalty.” The lawyer grumbled, walking off.

I hope that stick that’s stuck up your ass gets stuck even further. Hideto dared to think, as he was taken to his special seat in the court room. He watched, as his lawyer got and walked up to the judge.

“May I call our surprise witness now?” he asked patiently.

“Yeah, go ahead.” The judge sighed, getting annoyed with this case.

“I call in, Gackt Camui.”

Hideto nearly fell out of his seat. What the fuck?! No, please no! Sure enough, Gackt walked into the courtroom. Wearing the most expensive suit out there, and the jewelry he was always known for wearing. His hair cut in the latest style, his eyes covered in blue contacts, and a pair of shades on. The whole court room grew deathly silent, as he casually sat on the witness stand.

Hideto glared at his lawyer, wanting to choke him. The lawyer returned his glare with a smile, before looking at the walking dead man. “Is it true that you’re really him?”

“Can’t you tell?” Gackt asked, removing his shades.

“Um…now that I’m looking at you…I can tell.” The lawyer mumbled. “But, there’s this rumor going around that you’ve died. Is this true?”

“No,” Gackt replied dully. “In actuality, I dropped everything and ran away.”

“Why?”

“I’m in love with someone.” The returned musician confessed, smiling softly.

“But that’s no reason go run away and-“

“It is, when everyone around you hurts you for loving that person, who loves you just as much.” Gackt corrected. “It’s not easy to function, when everyone around you criticizes you, for loving that person and does whatever they can to hurt them. It’s even harder, when it chases the person you love away.”

“So you left to find him?” The lawyer asked.

“Yes.” The man at the witness stand replied, nodding.

“Who is he?”

“Haido.” Gackt replied. “Haido from L’Arc-en-Ciel.” The court room got even quieter.

“And where is he?” The lawyer asked. Gackt casually pointed at his lover. Hideto stared at him with confusion.

“I’m sorry to out you like this, but it’s not fair that everything bad happens to you because of me.” Gackt said quietly, “If I could, I’d take your place any day.”

“Excuse me, did you fake your death?” The judge asked. Gackt looked up at him.

“It never crossed my mind.” He replied. “I just changed my name and left.”

“I see.” The judge murmured, nodding. “Do you have any idea who placed these charges against him?”

“My mother.” Gackt said bluntly, without hesitation.

“Do you know why?”

“To take him away from me.” Gackt replied.

“But why?”

“Why don’t you ask her?” the ex musician asked, pointing at his mother. All eyes went to the elderly woman.

“How dare you make such things up?” she demanded.

“I did? Well…it’s funny that Haido’s arrested for killing me…who is nice and alive.” Gackt snorted, rolling his eyes. The judge looked at Gackt, who looked very pissed off, then he looked at Hyde, who looked very depressed. “Mom, if you weren’t so selfish, you’d understand that nothing you can do or say will keep me from Haido. All it will do is make him upset and piss me off. He deserved much better then what you’ve done to him. I’d rather you kill me yourself…but what you did to him was much worse.” Hyde stared at his hands, shaking his head. The guard that’s been talking with him for so long looked at him with sympathy.

“It’s okay,” he said gently. “I knew you were innocent.” Hyde looked up at him, scrubbing at an eye.

“It’s not that.” He sniffed. Gackt looked at the judge.

“Can you please let him go?” he pleaded. “We have rent to pay for our apartment.”

“What do you plan to do after you leave?” the judge asked.

“Get back to what we were doing.” Gackt replied, giving him a tearful smile. “Living normal and insignificant lives.”

“I understand.” The judge sighed, before looking at his mother. “You know Camui-san has to go to prison for making a false case right?”

“I’ll visit her every now and then.” Gackt replied, without any sign of care in his voice. The judge looked at the prison guard.

“You can free him now.” He said gently. The guard smiled, as he uncuffed Hyde. Hyde stood up, and before he could take a step, Gackt tackled him on the ground.

“GAH!!” he wailed. His lover didn’t say a word, just covered him in kisses. “Stop that! Hahahahahah! That tickles! Quit it!”

“Excuse me,” The judge called suddenly. The couple stopped and looked up at him, with innocent and childish faces. “Can you please take that outside?” They blushed at the question, before quickly getting up.

“Um…sorry.” Gackt mumbled, fixing his suit.

“Haido,” The guard called.

“Hm?” he asked, facing him.

“I have to take you to get your belongings.” The guard reminded him.

“Oh yeah.” Hyde giggled, blushing even more. “I’ll meet you outside.”

“Okay.” Gackt said with a smile, watching them leave. The judge got down from his stand, and walked towards the ex musician.

“Gackt-san,” he called.

“Hm?” he asked, looking at him. The judge rested a hand on his shoulder, smiling warmly.

“You are the most loving person I’ve ever seen.” He gushed. Gackt blushed at the comment.

“How is that?” he asked. “Wouldn’t you do the same for the person who makes your world worth living in?” The judge smiled at him and nodded.

“Yes, I’d do anything for her.” He confessed.

“Good.” Gackt said with a smile, before leaving the courtroom without another word.

-       - - - -

“If I knew why you didn’t speak, I wouldn’t have pushed you so hard to do so.” The guard admitted, watching Hyde gather his things, smiling to himself.

“It’s alright, I’m glad you managed to make me.” Hyde admitted, giving him a smile. “Thank you for your kindness all this time. I would have completely given up on living if it weren’t for you.”

“It’s nothing really I-“

“Here.” Hyde laughed, handing him a notebook. “A book of songs I wrote…Even though I don’t sing anymore, I still tend to write stuff. Do whatever you want with it. I really don’t care.”

“Are you sure?” The guard asked, blushing slightly. Hyde nodded, before practically skipping down the hall.

-       - - -

“You are a nutcase.” Tetsu sighed, while Ken gave the ex soloist a cigarette.

“So?” Gackt asked through his cancer stick, as Ken lit it. “I wasn’t going to let him get the death penalty.”

“But he didn’t want you to help him and-“ Yuki began, when Hyde walked out of the courtroom, glaring at Gackt.

“You are so difficult.” He growled.

“But you love me for it.” The younger man laughed, before kissing him quickly, tangling his fingers with his. “Come on, let’s go.”

“Where?” The smaller man asked, waving at his friends.

“To my hotel room of course.” Gackt giggled. Hyde blushed, following him to his car.

“You don’t care at all do you?”

“Not at all.” Gackt giggled.

“It’s a surprise the paparazzi didn’t show u-“ Just as the ex vocalist got to the end of his sentence, reporters swarmed around them. “Me, and my big stupid mouth.”

“We have to help them!” Chachamaru wailed from nearby.

“What do we do?!” Yuki asked, starting to panic. Ju-ken grinned, before dipping Tetsu and kissing him deeply.

“WAH?!” Everyone asked, in complete and utter shock, distracting the paparazzi, and forcing them to pay even more attention to THEM. Gackt and Hyde gawked at this in awe, before Hyde grabbed his lover’s hand.

“Okay, let’s go, NOW.” He ordered. The couple quickly rushed to Gackt’s nice car that he rented, and they sped off quickly, losing them with the greatest of ease. “Gacchan,”

“Hm?”

“A speed demon like you should never EVER be behind the wheel.” Hyde gasped his hair in his face from how wild the ride was at first.

“Were you scared?”

“What the fuck do you think?” Hyde demanded, wanting to slap him. Gackt laughed so hard, his head rested against the steering wheel. “That shit is NOT funny! The light is GREEN!”

“Oh whoops!” Gackt giggled, before he started off again, at a decent pace.

“Why did you come for me?” Hyde asked after a while.

“That’s a stupid question.” The younger man snapped, rolling his eyes. “You’d do the same for me and you know it.”

“But-“

“Haido, I’m sorry I let them take you. It was my stupidity for letting it get so far…and I promise it’ll never happen again.”

“We won’t have to worry about it!” Hyde snorted. “Your crazy ass mother is going to jail.”

“I guess you’re right.” Gackt sighed, glancing at him.
