I had just come home from yet another concert tour…and of course all I wanted to do was sleep. Unfortunately, nobody got the picture. When I walked into my empty home, I kicked my shoes off, not even bothering to put them on the rack, I staggered down the echoing hall, yawning as loudly and obnoxiously as I could, mainly because I wasn’t allowed such things in board meetings and what not, then when I found my ghostly bedroom, I smiled eagerly…before diving in it.

I was still in my clothes that had lingering scents of airplanes; taxis, stale booze and cigarettes, but I didn’t give a shit. I was home, alone, in my cozy, warm, stainless bed. I say stainless because not only was it clean when I left, I had many terrible experiences with hotel rooms and their beds. The things that I found were….never mind…just forget it.

Before I knew it, I was dead to the world, deep in a dreamless sleep, that anyone who lives a life like mine, would welcome faster then you can blink. It was so fucking wonderful….until my phone rang. “Hello?” I barely managed to ask, still mostly asleep.

“You’re really home,” I dreamt of Gackt saying happily. “That’s great, I’m coming to see you.”

“Mmhm.” I hummed before hanging up. Like I said, I thought this was a dream. If I knew that ass meant it, I would have told him to leave me alone! After hanging up and going back into the land of the dead, I heard the doorbell ringing in what felt like ten seconds later.

“Mm?” I asked weakly, opening an eye. The doorbell continued to ring incessantly, making me want to blow up whoever it was. I dragged myself out of bed, and answered. The person standing before me, made me realize that I wasn’t dreaming when I answered the phone.

“Hello Haido,” Gackt greeted with a grin, holding a bottle of wine. “I’ve come to welcome you home, since Megumi and Ryosuke aren’t here.”

“That’s…nice to know.” I grumbled. “Can you come back in a few days? I’m really-“

“I know you must be tired, but today’s my last day in Japan before I go to L.A to record my next album.” Gackt said with a pout. My eye twitched, as I nodded.

“Fine, come in.” I growled. “Your visit will have to be short, I’m dead tired.”

Gackt is a very dear friend of mine true, but at the moment I wanted to strangle him. I watched, as the younger man poured us tall flutes full of wine, talked continuously about how much he missed me, and other things…I was too tired to really pay much attention, and it was all I could do keep my eyes opened. “You really are tired,” the young man said suddenly. I glared at him through blood shot eyes.

“Ah NOW you notice.” I muttered, shaking off my need for sleep.

“I’m so sorry Haido,” Gackt mumbled, blushing slightly. It was so cute….it almost killed my irritation.

“Yeah, sure you are.” I yawned.

“How about this, I’ll watch over you while you sleep until I have to go.” The young soloist suggested with a smile.

“Whatever.” I grumbled, resting my head on the back of the couch. Before I knew it, I was sleeping peacefully again.

-          - - -

Have you ever been so tormented that you wind up wondering, what the hell did you do in your past life to deserve it? Well this is one of those moments for me. I woke up to Kaz’s guitar screaming louder then some hot chick destined to die in a horror film, and Gackt shouting for him to stop.

I opened my eyes and glared at my three, nefarious guests. “What the fuck, is wrong with all of you?” I demanded quietly. “Do you not see me, trying my very best to sleep?” The room became so silent…it made my usual empty house feel...emptier. “Kaz, you were on tour with me…and you KNOW how I love my sleep. Why the hell are you here? What the fuck do you want?”

“I wanted to show you my new guitar.” Kaz mumbled, staring at the floor.

“I tried to tell him that you were sleeping but-“ Gackt began, looking very childish.

“Look, I’m very tired. All I want to do is sleep….if you care about me at least a little, will you please, please, please let me sleep?” I begged. “I’ll never prank any of you again as long as I live.”

“Haido, I wasn’t trying to make you suffer, I swear.” Gackt said gently, taking my face in his hands.

“Good for you, now will all of you please leave?” I asked. Kaz rolled his eyes while Anis knelt in front of me.

“Haido, I’m sorry to interrupt your slumber.” He said quietly, before planting a kiss on my head. “I’ll see you later okay?”

“Yeah okay,” I mumbled, looking elsewhere, before rolling over on my side, facing the back of the couch. I was so relieved to hear the front door shut, telling me that I was to be left alone…then I felt a pair of lips press against my temple. “Gacchan…why are you still here?” I asked with a whine.

“I told you, I want to spend time with you before I go.” My unmerciful guest replied. “I don’t get to see you sleep much anymore anyway…and I miss it.” I sat up, gawking at him.

“You watch me sleep?” I asked, fully awake all of a sudden. “Since when?”

“Moonchild.” The younger man replied, giving me a very innocent and charming smile…it was very much unlike him to wear such a face. It made me wonder whether or not it was really him I was speaking with.

“You watched me sleep even then?” I asked going wide eyed. “When was the first time you did that?” Gackt smiled, leaning back against the wall.

“Remember that day, when you were feeling under the weather?” he asked.

“I took a nap on the bench outside…and woke up in my hotel roo-wait…It was YOU who took me! You told me that it was a staff member!” I wailed, pointing at him. “Why did you lie?”

“Well I didn’t want you to know that I was watching you. It’s rude to stare remember?” Gackt asked, looking elsewhere.

“….Yeah I guess.” I mumbled. “Wait…did you try anything all those times you watched me sleep?” I asked, feeling violated in many, many ways.

“No, I just like to see how innocent you look while you sleep is all.” My tall and strange friend confessed, staring deeply into my eyes.

“I look innocent in my sleep?” I asked, feeling truly confused. Gackt nodded.

“You look like an angel.” He said quietly, as he walked towards me. “I’m sorry, if that disturbs you…I didn’t mean to be creepy.”

“You’re not.” I admitted. “Seriously, that’s very…nice of you to tell me that. You’re the first person to tell me what I look like sleeping.” A very unreal smile formed on my musical rival’s face. He looked so human. I don’t mean that he’s an alien or anything like that…I know you all see him as a beauty from out of this world (I know you do because I sometimes do too.) but when he gave me that smile, all I saw was human. Oh now I sound stupid don’t I?

“I’m honored to be the first.” He said quietly, running a hand down my cheek.

“That’s nice to know.” I mumbled, blushing slightly. Gackt planted a soft kiss on my head, and took a few steps backwards.

“Well, I will leave you now.” He said quietly. I raised an eyebrow, watching him.

“Why?” I asked before I could stop myself.

“So you can sleep.” The younger man laughed.

“Oh that would help wouldn’t it?” I asked, running my fingers through my hair. “Gackt,”

“Huh?”

“Will you stay with me?” I found myself asking. I have no idea why I felt the need to ask this of him. You can ask me until the world ends and I still won’t know.  He stared back at me for a long time in silence. His contactless eyes regarded me with pure curiosity.

“Do you mean it?” Gackt asked me. His voice soft and unsure…another rarity from him.

“Yeah,” I said truthfully. “I think your presence will help me sleep better.”

“How so?” the no longer strange man asked.

“I don’t know…but since you’ve told me that you watch me sleep…I remembered how well I did. I take it you’re my fairy god father or something?” I giggled stupidly. Gackt shook his head, sitting on the recliner.

“Get some rest princess.” He teased. I gave him the finger, before balling up on the couch.

“Will do.” I sighed, drifting off to sleep at the drop of a hat.

-          - - -

I woke up again to fingers tracing my cheek. I didn’t want to…but I had to open my eyes to see why Gackt was standing over me like that…..well I THOUGHT it was him. Megumi regarded me with kind, loving eyes. “Hideto, did you sleep well?” she asked with a smile.

“Yes.” I sighed, smiling back at her. “Did you have a safe trip home?”

“Mmhm.” My wife said quietly, running her fingers through my hair. “Why are you sleeping on the couch?”

“I had a visitor…I didn’t want to be rude to him but I was sooo tired.” I yawned.

“Who?” Megumi asked, sitting next to me.

“Gacchan,” I replied. “He came to drink with me, celebrating a job well done and a safe trip home.” I looked around the room. “Is he still here?”

“No honey,” She replied with a heavy sigh. “He must have left.” I sat up and stretched, popping frozen joints and waking fully.

“Is Ryosuke here?” I asked.

“No.” Megumi replied.

“Good.” I sighed, taking out a cigarette….only for my dear wife to snatch it from me. “Hey!”

“No smoking in here Hideto. You know better.” She said through gritted teeth…giving me a dark look.

“Aww but he’s not here.” I whined, pouting.

“And?” Megumi asked.

“Fine…I won’t smoke.” I muttered, crossing my arms over my chest. Megumi kissed my cheek, standing up.

“You look so tired,” she said quietly. “Come to bed, before you hurt yourself on this couch.”

“Oh alright,” I sighed, standing up. “Let me take a shower first…I’m still wearing clothes from the trip.”

Megumi made a face. “Hideto, that’s gross!” She gagged.

“You say that now, but you won’t when you go on the next tour with me.” I dared to retort, giving her a sleepy wink. Megumi rolled her eyes.

“I’m not you….I do believe in showering before getting in the bed.”

“I used to be that way, before I stayed away from home longer, and spent more days awake then asleep.” I sighed. “Sometimes I miss that.” I began the unusually long trip to the bathroom, with Megumi right behind me.

“Do you miss me?” She asked lowly, wrapping her arms around my waist.

“Mmhm.” I barely managed to hum, unbuttoning my shirt. “Megumi,”

“Hm?” The woman who’s formed a place for me to come back to so skillfully asked, wearing a smile.

“Can you let go of me, so I can shower?” I requested.

“Sorry.” She giggled, the way she tends to do only in front of me.  I gave her a smile, before kissing her cheek.

“I’ll be done soon, okay?” I asked. Megumi nodded, giving me a wicked grin. “What’s that for?”

“I was hoping I could shower with you.” She purred. I glared at her.

“And keep me awake even longer? No thanks darling, not gonna happen today…or this evening….or well whatever! Just not now, I’m tired!” I growled. My beautiful wife stared back at me for a long time….before she fell into a laughing fit. “What’s so funny?”

“That was cute.” She giggled, taking me in her arms. I couldn’t help but blush, staring off into space.

“Yeah, sure it was…now can I please shower and get to bed?” I asked as politely as my cranky ass could manage.

“Okay,” Megumi said happily before skipping out the bathroom.

She’s always like this…when we’re home together. I realized, as I began to climb out of my smelly clothes.

-          - - - -

I was once again in my dreamless sleep….when I felt something rubbing against my face. Not wanting to wake up, I swung at it, missing…then it started again. This time it was in my ear. Okay this is getting on my nerves. I thought, forcing my eyes open. What I saw, nearly made me scream like a girl.

It was a Gackt, Ryosuke, and a giant bird feather. “Wha-what the hell?!” I wailed. Gackt looked at my son and giggled.

“See, I told you it would wake him.” He snickered.

“Why did you wake me up you stupid bastard?!” I demanded. Ryosuke wrapped his arms around my neck and hugged me tightly.

“I wanted you to know that I was home Daddy!” He wailed.

“It was his idea.” Gackt added, giving me a gentle smile. “Besides, Megumi was starting to worry. You slept for nearly two days straight.”

“It was the best sleep I’ve had in months.” I admitted, rolling my eyes. “I’m sorry I was made Ryo-chan. Daddy’s very tired right now.”

“I have a surprise for you Haido,” Gackt whispered in my ear.

“What are you doing here anyway?” I asked, walking with him to the living room. “Didn’t you have a flight to catch?”

“Uh…they canceled my recording date.” The soloist mumbled, looking elsewhere.

“I see. What is it that you want to show me?” I queried, holding my son in my arms. When I walked into the room, my eyes went wide at the sight of a blanket on the floor, with a bottle of wine on the table.

“Megumi went out to spend time with her friends and she asked me to keep you awake.” My guest explained, sitting on the floor. “I brought over some movies.”

“So you’re going to keep me awake by getting me drunk and having me watch movies?” I asked, tilting my head. “What kind?”

“Do you like any of these?” Gackt asked, holding up a handful of DVDs.

“Gacchan, they’re a bunch of Yakuza movies! Don’t you have anything…well…child appropriate?” I couldn’t help but ask, staring at him with confusion.

“Um….let’s watch T.V then.” The younger man suggested with a nervous smile.

Ten minutes later, I found myself snuggled up on the blanket with Ryosuke clinging to me tightly. The channel Gackt and I had decided to stay at…was getting very boring. “Nothing else is on…this is so dull.” Gackt muttered, before yawning.

“It’s worse then I thought,” I yawned. “Television…really…sucks.”

“Ryosuke must agree, since he’s already sleeping.” Gackt muttered, his eye lids looking as heavy as mine felt. I dared to take a glance at the little boy practically glued to me. He was lost in his dreams, unaware of the bored adults’ struggle to keep awake.

“You know what?” I asked drowsily.

“Yes?” Gackt asked, rubbing his eyes.

“I am about to go to sleep.” I declared. “I can’t fight it anymore, and I don’t want to either. You’re welcome to join me Gacchan.” A grin formed on my dear friend’s face as he nodded.

“Why thank you Hai-chan. I’d love to.” He agreed, lying out on his back. “Goodnight.”

“Goodnight.” I yawned.

-          - - - -

“Hideto!” Megumi hissed at me. I snapped awake….to see my wife standing over me. “Why are you sleeping like that?”

“Like what?” I asked, blinking…..before I felt someone’s head snuggling into my shoulder. I looked at Gackt with wide eyes. “I have no idea…I was sleeping and-“

“It’s the cutest…and strangest thing I’ve ever seen. It looks like Ryosuke’s the cause of it.” Megumi giggled. I looked at the obstacle between the younger musician and I…and nearly laughed. Ryosuke was clinging to us both, fast asleep.

“I think you’re right.” I giggled softly. “They look so cute.”

“I’m not even going to ask what you three were up to, but you need to get off the floor Hideto.” Megumi urged gently.

“That’s easier said then done.” I mocked, sticking my tongue out. Megumi tapped her foot, giving me a look full of warning. “Gackt, wake up!” I urged, jerking my shoulder. The younger man blinked in surprise, looking at me.

“What’s wrong?” he murmured, scrubbing at an eye.

“It’s time to get up.” Megumi replied for me, glaring at him. Gackt sat up quickly, nearly knocking Ryosuke on the floor.

“Oh! Uh…I tried to keep him awake but I got sleepy too.” He mumbled, blushing slightly. I nearly laughed at him….but instead I gave him a hug.

“It was my fault, I was spreading my sleepy issues around.” I said with full on sarcasm. Megumi rolled her eyes and shook her head.

“Alright, it doesn’t matter, it’s very important that you get off the floor. My friends are on their way over.” She warned.

“Oh…okay.” I sighed, before Gackt and I packed up everything.

Just as we finished doing as asked, Megumi’s friends came over. Of course all six of them flocked to Gackt to flirt. The poor man tried his best to get away from them…but me being the pro, had to show him a thing or two. “Megu-chan,” I called casually.

“Hm?” She asked.

“Gacchan and I have some errands to run, if that’s alright with you?” I asked, tilting my head and smiling.

“Oh sure, have fun Hideto.” Megumi said with a giggle.

Before we knew it, I was sitting in the passenger side of Gackt’s convertible, staring out the window. “You know what Gacchan?” I asked.

“Yeah?” he asked, glancing at me. I looked at him and gave him a grin.

“Thank you for allowing me to get a well deserved rest.”

“You’re welcome.” Gackt replied.

“You look like an angel when you sleep.” I gushed before I could stop myself. I watched as the younger man blushed and struggled to keep his eye on the road. “I’m not saying that to poke fun at you either. I mean it.” Gackt’s eyes went to me timidly. Once again it felt as if I were looking at someone else. Everything that said that Gackt Camui was human, showed in his contact covered eyes.

“No one’s ever said that to me before.” He said quietly. “I’m usually told that I look like a god or something.”  I smirked at him.

“You do seem other-worldly at times.” I admitted.

“Everyone says that. They forget that I’m a living, breathing, man…and that’s all that matters.” Gackt sighed, tilting his head.

“I know what you mean.” I sighed just as heavily. “Sometimes I wonder if it’s ever going to change.”

“Do you want it to?”

“….I don’t know.” I admitted, smirking. “It won’t be as fun, flirting with someone who doesn’t know who you are.”

“True.” Gackt giggled.

-          - - -

Before we knew it…my close friend and I were playing video games…ignoring the ringtone I have especially for Megumi. “Shouldn’t you answer that?” Gackt asked.

“She’s going to ask me what errands am I dealing with….and I have none.” I said bluntly.

“She’s going to be mad.” Gackt warned me.

“Mmhm.” I hummed. Suddenly…the power went out. “Okay, you can take me home now.”

“There’s one problem Haido,”

“What?”

“I can’t find the keys.”

“Fuck.”

“Haido,”

“Huh?”

“I’ll find some candles if you like,”

“How can you find candles in this?” I asked. “I could hardly see the hand in front of my face when the lights were on and now I can’t see a damn thing!”

“I can see a little.” The younger man said reassuringly…as he showed me that he could, by walking around gracefully.

“Good for you.” I mumbled. “I think that it’s best that you just sit down and wait for the power to come back on.”

“Fine,” Gackt grumped, plopping next to me on the couch. “Haido,”

“Hm?”

“What do you usually do when the power’s out?”

“I’m usually alone, so I just go to sleep.” I replied. “You?”

“I normally have company…usually female.” Gackt admitted quietly. “And uh….weeellll….”

“You don’t have to say anymore.” I snorted. “So, what do you wanna do?”

“I have no idea.” The younger man sighed.

“You’re no help Gacchan.” I whined.

“Hm…want to write a song together?”

“How can we possibly do that in the dark?”

“I’ve done it before.”

“No you haven’t!”

“I have so! I’ve done many things in the dark!”

“Like what?” I was dumb enough to ask. The results, left me lying on my back on the couch, with my companion’s body hovering over mine.

“Like this, for instance.” He whispered before giving me a chaste kiss.

“That was dirty.” I whined. Gackt sat up and leaned back against the couch.

“Welcome back Haido.” Was the response I got.

“Um…thanks.” I mumbled.

This story changed up a lot...The ending was nothing like how I saw it. I would like to thank

larkir
for the help she gave me. It would have been very short if it weren't for her. ^.^
