“Daddy,” a small, cute voice called, as a hand to match wrapped around my wrist. “Daddy, wake up.” I cracked an eye open, to see my adorable son staring at me.
“What is it Ryo-chan?” I croaked, trying to stay awake long enough to see what he wanted. We were home alone today, and I had just got home the night before from a looong tour. My voice was shot, my body was wracked with pain and suffering….and all I wanted to was to play dead for a month….but nooo, Megumi had to go out and about, telling me not to worry and Ryosuke wouldn’t bother me unless it was important.
“Daddy, can I have some ice cream?” the eight year old asked, tilting his head.
“Can you reach the ice cream?” I asked, being an evil smart ass.
“…..If I can, can I?” the boy asked, smiling brightly at me.
“Mm,” I grunted shutting my eyes back. A split second later, I heard a loud crash…and I knew what that meant without even sitting up. “Ryosuke, you tried to reach the ice cream didn’t you?”
“Sorry Daddy.” Ryosuke sniffed, holding his scraped elbow. I forced myself to sit up and hold out my arms for him. My son carefully hugged me, sobbing.
“It’s alright, I shouldn’t have told you that…that was mean of me.” I rasped, rubbing his back with all of my strength. “Here, sit down and I’ll clean it up.”
“No, I’ll do it.”
“Huh?”
“You’re not feeling well, so I’ll clean it up.” the boy offered.
“Ryosuke, I’m not feeling THAT badly, sit down and I’ll clean it up.” I ordered, forcing myself up. My body then commenced to giving us both a symphony of creaks, snaps, groans, and pops, as I made myself go into the kitchen.
When I got in there I wanted to cry….since the entire floor was decorated in ice cream, sugar and cookies. After making a mental note of threatening to strangle Megumi for putting ceramic jars on top of the fridge just to keep them out of Ryosuke’s reach, I then gathered some towels, a bucket and a mop to clean up the mess. Everything was going fine…until I was dumb enough to get on my hands and knees.
My back then decided it wanted to go on vacation….leaving me with a loud *CRACK* “Oooh.” I whimpered, falling on my face.
“Daddy?” Ryosuke asked, kneeling in front of me. “Are you alright?”
“No, Daddy’s hurt.” I blubbered, trying not to cry. “I can’t move.” My son stared at me for a long time, with wide, frightened eyes, before scampering away. “Ryo-chan? Where are you going?” I then heard numbers dialing on the phone. “No! I’m alright!” I wailed, while I heard hushed talking…that I couldn’t understand.
After a while, Ryosuke poked his head in the room. “Don’t worry Daddy, help is coming.”
“Who did you call?” I asked, pouting.
“….It’s a secret.” he giggled, sitting next to me.
“Come on, tell me.” I whined, not caring how childish I sounded. Ryosuke patted my head, not saying a word. I have to admit it was pretty soothing….and more then capable of putting me to sleep.

“He’s sleeping?” I heard a faint voice ask.
“Mmhmm, Daddy fell asleep. He says he’s okay, but he can’t move. How come he can’t move?” Ryosuke asked.
“He’s not doing so well Ryo-chan, maybe you shouldn’t have asked him for ice cream.” the voice lectured, as I felt myself being gently lifted. I grunted in pain, opening my eyes…to see Gackt staring down at me with worry. “How are you holding up old man?” he teased half heartedly.
“Hey! I’ NOT old!” I snapped at him, as he carefully carried me to the living room.
“You know what they say, the back is the first to go.” the stupid soloist teased, placing me on the couch. “If you weren’t feeling well, why did you let Megumi go out?”
“I didn’t let her do anything, she left against my will.” I snapped, wanting to thump him in the eye.
“Why didn’t you at least call me to help you out? You know I’m on break from my tour. Why are you being so difficult?” he continued to nag, making me even more irritable.
“Oh leave me alone will you?! I’m tired and-” that’s when my voice went out.
“You didn’t drink any tea today did you?” Gackt asked, watching me rub my throat and pout. “Let me clean up the mess in the kitchen, then I’ll make some tea okay?” I nodded, sighing silently. Gackt patted my head, before looking at Ryosuke. “Why don’t you play with your dad?”
“Daddy’s not feeling well.” the boy replied flatly.
“He’s well enough to play SOMETHING, aren’t you Daddy?” my friend asked, giving me a playful smile. I reminded myself to show him how disturbing it is for a grown MAN that’s not even family to call you ‘Daddy’ as soon as I could talk, as I nodded.
“What do you wanna play Daddy?” Ryosuke asked, sitting next to me. I looked around deep in thought, before smiling and pointing at the T.V “You wanna watch T.V?” I shook my head, and picked up the remote, before I started balancing it on my finger. “Wooow, how do you do that?”
“He learned it from me,” Gackt said, walking back in the room. “Neh, is it alright if I have some of your juice?” I glared at him, giving him my answer. “But I’m thirsty.” he whined, giving me a childish pout. I continued to glare at him, when Ryosuke hopped up and down.
“Daddy wants you to have some.” he said, making my eyes go wide.
“Thank you~” Gackt sang, skipping back in the kitchen. I glared at my son, harshly.
If you weren’t my cute, adorable off spring I’d get you. I wanted to say. Ryosuke stared at me for a moment, before hugging me.
“Gacchan’s helping you, so you have to be nice to him.” he reminded me, before kissing my cheek. I blinked a few times, realizing that I was being lectured by my son…part of me was proud of this, and the other was highly annoyed. I patted his head, before resting my head against his.
“My Ryo-chan,” I tried to say, but it came out in a muted movement of lips.
“Huh?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. I shook my head and smiled, leaning against the couch, ignoring the pain in my back. Gackt walked out of the kitchen with a hot cup of tea, and an ice cream cone for Ryosuke.
“Here Ryo-chan,” he said quietly handing it to him.
“Thank you Gacchan,” he giggled, before skipping into the kitchen, without us having to tell him to go.
“He seems very grateful.” The soloist mused, helping me sit properly so I could drink my tea. I carefully took a sip, wincing slightly when my shoulder popped. “Haido, you need to take more breaks.”
Look who’s talking. I thought giving him a dull look.
“I know it’s not something you want to hear, especially from the likes of me…but…it’s not a good idea to work yourself into a bedridden state. I know you hate injuring yourself as much as I do…and when it happens to you I can see the depression written all over your face. I don’t like seeing you like that.” Gackt continued, watching me drink my tea.
“Gacchan,” I tried, to find myself surprised that I could actually get some words out, even though I sound like someone who’s been chain smoking longer then Gackt and I have been alive put together. “I don’t mind being bedridden, when I do the things that I love…and as long as I have someone like Ryosuke and Megumi with me, I’m content.”
“What if they’re not home? Have you thought of that at all?” my friend pressed, giving me a worried look.
“…Yeah, but I’m thinking of NOW, not later. Don’t you do that?” I asked, before taking another sip of tea. “This tea is good by the way.”
“….Yes and no.” he admitted, giving me a slight smile. “You’re welcome.”
“I think you are.” I chuckled, before taking another sip. My voice was starting to cooperate with me, and my throat hurt a lot less. “After all, I remember having a similar conversation with you back during the Moonchild era…and you told me that this wasn’t important, as long as you manage to get your work out there.”
“Haido, you have a family that worries about you…loves you. I’m alone and will pretty much stay that way. Time is a cruel mistress, and before you know it, Ryosuke will be grown, do you want to miss all of his firsts? If I were you I wouldn’t. Not to mention the fact that your health is getting shaky because of all of this. When the situation calls for it, you should take a break and cherish the time you have with your family.” Gackt sighed, resting a hand on my shoulder.
“I think you’re right.” I realized, staring up at him. “….If I do this, do me a favor in return.”
“Hm?”
“Find something worth coming home to.” I asked.
“…..Okay.” Gackt agreed, smiling softly. “That’s a deal…hopefully I’ll find it soon.”
It took me a while, but I barely managed to write this, hopefully the second chapter won't be as hard and annoying. -.-
