You want to know why AU is blah? So my financial adviser emails me back that I don't get any financial aid. Yes, we did mess up on the fafsa, but she had said it would be fine. So I freak out. And I try and figure out who I can appeal to because I don't know what else to do. I write her back and then I write a similiar letter to the financial aid director because I figure two ears are better than one. I explain to him that even though Michelle (my advisor) has been nice to me, and seems to be trying, she had said it would be ok and instead of working, or saving, I just did my own thing when I could've been earning money. I explain that I don't want to put the blame on her, but that I'd at least like to be reconsidered for financial aid since I didn't have a chance to reconsider. So I wait for a week and neither of them write back. I figure I might be having problems with my email. So I call the director and leave a message to have him please call or email me back just to let me know he got it, even if he doesn't have any sort of decision. I finally write Michelle again and ask if her she got my email. She said she got it, but it was the previous one and that she had replied. So I send my email again so she can read it. She writes back with:
Burgundy:
I did not respond because you had sent a similar email to the Director, and he told me that he was going to respond. If he has not responded to you as yet, he will shortly, and his decision is final. I hope that things work out for you for this academic year.
Why didn't she respond to me before? I just don't get it. I would love American if it weren't completely beurocratic (spelling) and obsessed with money. Like why would she not respond even if I emailed the director? And by saying his decision is final... well ok, he can tell me that, can't he? It's very frustrating.
