Here are the quick takes on the episodes I watched last week…

Nova and Luluco
Uchuu Patrol Luluco, Episode 12
Sailor Moon Crystal: Episode 37
Aw, man! They’re going to stop there? These cliffhangers are going to kill me! Looking forward to a big finish next week.
BAKUON!: Episode 11
Even given the low bar for this series, this week’s episode was the dumbest one yet. All three stories were useless, brainless wastes of time. My already low expectations were not met.
Joker Game: Episode 11
Another mesmerizing episode. I don’t know how Yuuki got all the way to Berlin in a short amount of time, but the guy is a genius and a wizard, I think. Opposing spymasters don’t have a chance.
Sousei no Onmyouji (Twin Star Exorcists): Episode 11
Rokuro remains noisily annoying; I tire of his brainless raging. Benio is mostly a fixture at this point. Subaru was also annoying. Overall this episode was a bust - with just a couple minutes of playing nice together.
Bungō Stray Dogs: Episode 11
Surprisingly the first story was a Port Mafia story. It was OK but nothing special. The second story provided some insight into Kenji. He’s not a particularly interesting detective, but he fits well with the assortment of oddballs that is the Armed Detective Agency. This week the storytelling was marginally entertaining.
Uchū Patrol Luluco (Space Patrol Luluco): Episode 12
The “season” finale was appropriate - a confession of love - and taking a page from Kiznaiver. The mini kizuna on Nova’s forehead was cute!

Unexpected Echizen
Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge, Episode 11
Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge (Tanaka-kun is Always Listless): Episode 11
School festival episodes tend to be rather dull, and this episode had a few of those qualities. However, there were also a number of funny moments, so I forgive the writers. I especially liked the Tanaka - Echizen encounter; the moment was directed perfectly. Miyano was adorable. I wish there were some Shiraishi x Tanaka energy, though. Maybe next week.
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk: Episode 24 (Season Finale)
Throughout the series Julis has been the one to formulate battle plans, and she showed her skill this week. The battle was fine (although some parts didn’t make sense). I was waiting for Kirin, and she did come through at the end. While Julis has good battle smarts, it is Claudia who is the strategist, and I enjoyed seeing her in “action.”
Kiznaiver: Episode 11
It’s not going to be a straight line to the finale. The plot has pivoted, and I can’t yet tell if this discards everything up until now - or is a reasonable next step. This week was transitional, and the impact starts next week. There were a few good moments - and as always the animation, music, and acting were stellar.
High School Fleet (Haifuri): Episode 11
Misaki was out-of-character being way more withdrawn and indecisive than usual - Munetani also was less outspoken than usual… a forced setup of drama. Also… weird, badly-timed flashbacks on the Musashi. Lots of poorly timed, poorly directed, confusing cuts in this episode… trying to build up to a finale next week. Best part of the episode: Maron (chief of engineering) was awesome.
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Episode 12
Subaru is being annoyingly headstrong again… and the reveal of the fifth candidate was not really a surprise. This episode was simply the slow and uneven start to a new arc. Looks like there will be plenty of opportunities for Subaru to get killed again. I’m not looking forward to a new round of cycles.
