Go Suck It, VFTW
So, as I'm sure is no surprise by this point in the game, I am a HUGE fan of Adam Lambert; not one of those creepy stalker fans, but one who thinks that he has great potential and wants to see him succeed. Anyhoo, occasionally I would log on to VFTW while the American Idol 8 season was ongoing because they would often have funny recaps of the performances that I would have much of a laugh over.
Well, today I was going through my Bookmarks on my computer and stumbled across the one to the VFTW site. Out of curiosity, I logged on to see if anything interesting was going on. I DID discover that they are doing a worst songs of the year countdown which I found particularly true and hysterical and would recommend them to you all: http://votefortheworst.com/tags/worst_songs_year
However, then I came across THIS ARTICLE (which I so helpfully took a screenshot of and highlighted a certain area to show you all what angers me about it)
I mean SERIOUSLY people, I admit that what Adam wasn't the standard performance given on the AMA's, but then again the standard performer on the AMA's isn't an openly gay male. And--as has been stated by multiple people over the week or so--if Adam wasn't an openly gay male and the actions that ensued on that broadcast had been hetero in nature, no one would have their panties in a bunch about it.
On top of it, there are apparently sites like this who are encouraging people to tank careers. It's not just this article; I looked through many more and found that the VFTW crew is trying to get their members to sabotage the careers of not only Adam Lambert, but also Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta, Katharine McPhee, Fantasia Barrino (although she hasn't had much of one...), and Jason Castro. Why? I have no fucking clue. The songs are all decent and are much better than a lot of the crap playing on the radio these days anyway.
Ionno, I've been in kind of a bitchy mood all day, so maybe this is just me overreacting, but I am officially annoyed with VFTW and all of the people who are like "my 5-year-old kid was watching the AMA's and saw Adam Lambert kiss another man and now he needs sufficient counseling and church camp so he doesn't turn gay from seeing that". Number one: if you are letting your 5-year-old kid watch any awards show at 11pm unsupervised you are not the best parent to begin with. Number two: you are a homophobe because there were plenty of other kisses on that show that you have conveniently managed to overlook. Number three: shut the fuck up.
I feel that, as the election of Barack Obama has taught the world that there are still many racist Americans, the performance of Adam Lambert has taught the world that there are even more homophobic Americans.
