Sally-Anne was walking back from the Great Hall. Dinner was nearly over and, as usual, she left early to avoid the buzz of students heading back to their common room. She pulled out a small piece of parchment from her school back and scanned it quickly.

"Well," Blodwyn said dryly, bag balanced precariously on one shoulder. "Aren't you that Hufflepuff?"

She flipped her red hair over her shoulder, expression expectant.

Sally-Anne tucked a trend of hair behind her ear.

"Well, I am a Hufflepuff," she replied cautiously after a bit of hesitation. She didn't know if she was that Hufflepuff. She adjusted her schoolbag on her shoulder. "You're in Slytherin, right?," Sally asked, although she already knew the answer.

Blodwyn smirked. She was getting better at it. "Of course," she answered primly, then added, "Perky, is it?"

"Perks," she corrected. "Sally-Anne Perks." She tried to smile, but the Slytherin's expression made Sally uneasy. She chewed on the inside of her bottom lip nervously.

"You, it's Blodwyn, isn't it," she finally added. Once again, she knew the answer to her own question. She had contemplated the idea of pretending not to know her name, but decided against it.

"Right," Blodwyn muttered. "Perks."

She nodded in acknowledgement of her name. "Where are you in such a hurry off to?"

Sally-Anne raised an eyebrow at the girl standing in front of her. It wasn't Slytherin-like to ask a Hufflepuff what they were up to. She pondered on the question for an instant. What could the Slytherin do with that information? Surely no harm could come from Blodwyn knowing her destination... right?

"Oh...Erm, Common room," she said slowly, squinting her eyes, trying to read the other girl's intention.

Blodwyn sighed, easily interpreting the other girl's concentrated expression. "I'm not going to eat you," she said coolly. The girl's fearfulness was getting on Blodwy's nerves, and she was feeling like extending her network would be a nice idea. However, if the Hufflepuff kept it up any longer she might have to ditch her.

"Are you pureblood?" the redhead asked impatiently.

Sally-Anne blushed slightly at the girl's comment.

Sally looked up at the girl. She was tempted to ask why it mattered, but decided against it. She didn't want to test the Slytherin's temper. She might actually eat me then..., the Hufflepuff thought to herself.

"Yes," she said with a nod. "My father was half-half though."

"Ah," Blodwyn replied, feeling satisfied. Hufflepuffs weren't so bad, as long as you weeded out the annoying ones, which was actually most of the House. Being very close to pureblood was good. And, she considered, having a Muggle father made it much hearder to get up in the social ranks once the secret was out, so making the acquaintance of an almost pureblood would be good.

"Well, good. Now, if you ever need any help of my nature..." Blodwyn trailed off meaningfully. Hopefully the girl wouldn't be so daft as to misunderstand.

"Help of your...," Sally started, puzzled, but quickly stopped. Her eyes widen up slightly as she finally understood what the other girl meant. Slytherin help. Sally wasn't quite sure what that consisted of, but she knew Blodwyn wouldn't be helping her out with homework. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear nervously.

"Oh.. erm, well, sure," she finally managed to say. "Ummm, thanks." She eyed the Slytherin carefully.

"Well if you ever need me, I'm always happy to help," Sally added, not exactly knowing what she was offering herself to help with.

Blodwyn smirked again. "I probably won't," she answered graciously, "but you're welcome."

Nodding to the blonde, Blodwyn swiftly turned and set off down the hall in the opposite direction. Her smirk turned into a small grin. Blodwyn, dear, you're doing well, she sighed to herself.

Sally-Anne watched the girl turn the corner before she started to walk again. That was unexpected to say the least. The Hufflepuff was still questioning the girl's real motive when she reached her Common Room. Maybe she really is nice, the girl naively concluded.
