Day 5 & 6

Day 5: The only tour we took at Mcklinley was the 4wd jeep tour. This was my favorite event on the entire trip. there was about 5 jeeps, each contained a family and the front jeep was the guide. We all had radios for communication. Our jeep, however, had a bad radio. Our guide would be talking and saying stuff like "OMG! We are soo lucky! Over there in the. . "- cuts off- ". . is a rare form of a"- cuts off- It was soooo hilarious! not to mention the roads were rocky and so we had quite a ride . . . it was like the Indiana Jones Ride times 20. I was flying out of my seat! we get to this area where we are supposed to pan for gold but the guide insists that we keep going. And so we did. We even drove through a river! as we are going up the hill on cliffs, our brake light goes on- and we try radio-ing the guide but our radio is so bad that he cant hear us! When we make it to the top, we are in a beautiful land. The only way i can describe it is it was like the first scene in the Sound of Music when she's dancing in the mountains. It was breathtaking. we have lunch up there- chili and pie. And then we take the exciting journey down the hill- we have to deal with the brakes- When we get to the river, we dont drive through but make a sharp left and drive in/down the river!! Other jeeps were yelling comments on the radios like "We dont need no stinkin roads" with spanish accents and stuff. It was just sooo fun :)
Day 6:  Now you would think that our last land journey would involve another train, but it didnt. We took a bus for 4 hours to Anchorage. Our driver was this little british woman who giggles alot- she was hilarious! At one point during the trip she cut some one off and then they cut her off and she started swearing . . . and with her britsh proper accent it sounded really funny. In Anchorage, we stopped at the local farmers market. As we walked around, my parents asked me why wasnt there anything that interested me enough to buy. Well, with all the wale bones, ivory, furs, and fox heads for sale- i was sure a vegan rebel would jump out from no where and slice my own head off if i attempted to purchase any of it. Did you know that alaskans eat more ice cream than anywhere else in North America? Talk about an accomplishment. After this short stop, we drove on to Wittier, where our ship was docked. We traveled along one of the top 10 most scenic routes in the world. right along the edge of a fjord with glacier mountians all around us. Damn it was gorgeous. The Cruise Ship, or the Coral Princess, was the only thing pretty much in wittier. It seemed like a random cove that they parked the ship in. There was barely any civilization there at all. Strange ay? Our bags were delivered early so all we had to was check in and go up to our rooms and unpack, right? first off, they gave us our cruise/key/credit card and mine was printed MRS. meaghan tucker. apparently im married and i didnt know it. and my mother was printed with a MS. When you book a room, you have to be under 21 and so my parents booked a room in each of their names. but it screwed things up. When you first get on the ship, they take your picture so when u get on and off the ship they have picure ID automatically when you swipe ur cruise card. My card opened my mothers room and hers opened mine so we were forced to switch cards while on the ship but when getting on and off we had to switch back and so forth . . . but its all good. My family and I do this thing where we never use the elevater on the ship. so we didnt. Even when hiking up 14 flights of stairs, we didnt. Our steward(the guy that cleans ur room and so on) was a very bad steward. His name was Byanni. Did he understand me? nope. when he greeted us, despite the name tag on the door, he called me barbera and my brother tom. He had also delivered our bags to the wrong room. . .but again, its all good. We ate in a cajun, new orleans, restaurant on the ship the first night and after finishing my jumbalaya quickly- i raced to the top of the ship. On our last cruise, i was getting my haircut as we left the dock and i really didnt want to miss the embarkment again. But, like always, i got lost and i missed leaving the dock yet again- but i burned off the jumbalaya trying to find it the deck so its still alll grrraaavvvyyy : ) That night my brother and I went to the teen club. oooo ahhh. To make a long story short- my brother is an ass and i decided to stay away from the club from then on.  I strolled back to my room around one in the morning- and it was dark. When i entered my room, my sheets were pulled back, choclate on pillow, and ice in the bucket- you gotta love cruises
. . . stay tuned for more later
