Orihime sighed as she laid back, it was hot and their air conditioner had broke and there was only a small fan blowing air on her. Ulquiorra had gone out to buy a bigger one and to buy some supplies to fix the air conditioner that he insisted he would fix himself.
Orihime had a feeling it wouldn’t go well as she shifted on the couch, uncomfortable in Ulquiorra’s too long tank top and old shorts. Her hand touched her round stomach, her fingers tapping as she waited for him, the baby insisted that it needed to kick her lungs.
She hoped he would return soon, it was getting unbearable.
“I’m home.” Orihime’s eyes widen as she tried to stand up as he walked in holding a large box and a few other bags, “where do you want me to set this thing?”
“In front of me is fine!” she smiled, excited as she stood up.
“Don’t stress yourself.”
She sat on the ground, Ulquiorra sighed he was strong enough to pick her up with no trouble but he rather he not do things that incapacitate her. “I’m fine!” she smiled as she pulled out tools and things from the bags. “You sure you can do this?”
“I fixed the TV.”
“…..We had to buy a new one though the same day.”
He turned and looked at her after he set the fan up, “So?” Orihime laughed.
“I can help, maybe I can let Tsubaki help you with the small places?” Out of all her fairies those two still didn’t get along. She tried to push herself up, but stopped as Ulquiorra walked over and grabbed her arms lifting her up.
“I don’t need help.”
She sighed and walked back over to the couch, sitting in front of the coolness of the fan, she hummed. “You should sit in front of this with me Ulquiorra. Since you were outside for a few hours before you work on that.”
He turned and looked at her, sighing as he stood up and joined in sitting beside her. He rather not but her mood swings were not something he enjoyed and he was hot. “This is nice.” she smiled commenting, “our last summer before the baby comes.”
“Hmmm…”
“Oh!” Ulquiorra opened his eyes and gave her a side glance. She sat up straighter and was touching her stomach with a small smile on her lips.
“Something wrong?”
“No” she turned and grabbed his hand making her touch the middle of her stomach above her belly button, she had before made him feel the kicks the child did. But she let go and grabbed his head.
Ulquiorra blinked and pulled back slightly but after a moment let his head be laid down on her stomach softly, “Just what are you doing?” he finally commented. Orihime said nothing, everything was quiet and the only noise was the hum of the fan and muffled noises from the TV.
And then he heard it.
The noise was soft at first, a familiar bomp, bomp, bomp. That he heard once in a small and cramped doctors office, though this time it was cramped and muffled not as clear as at that time in the doctors. But his eyes widen in surprise and no sound was made.
“You hear it?” she whispered, her hands playing with his hair as she leaned back eyes closed, letting the cold air come over them. “That’s where the heart is.” she smiled, “yeah that’s where it is.”
