There were many things in Ichigo’s life that he regretted doing but also things he knew he could live with and move forward.. He didn’t want to live with regret anymore, not after what happened with his mother.
It was too late now.
She stood in front of him, smiling and bickering with him as she slowly faded away, his chest tightening as he moved closer to her. His body itching to touch her but he didn’t as he continued to watch as she slowly faded from his sight, smiling but her eyes big and full of tears.
An image that would haunt him for years.
A regret that burned inside him, of what words he didn’t say of not touching when he should have. So many “what ifs” and scenarios running through his head.
There were a lot of things he had to do and it wouldn’t be forever and he knew this wasn’t goodbye. But he stood there at the place he first met her. The place where it all began and let it flow through him, to deal with it.
This he knew would be the last time he would ever feel this way. There were many things in his life he knew he would have to deal with and this moment would always stand alone he had too many regrets at this age though.
He sighed as he moved back and looked at his nakama who watched the whole thing, and in the bottom of his heart he knew.
Knew.
This would be his last time regretting something that dealt with Rukia.
