Has anyone ever noticed how quickly your entire world can change? Maybe it's just me trying to be insightful, but all of a sudden I feel like I'm starting over, completely from scratch because all the things I used to know aren't real anymore.
Also, you know how from far away paintings look so beautiful? But then you get up close and you see how imperfect they are? Just blobs of color, not smooth strokes like you may have imagined. People are like that too: from a distance they look so perfect, so beautiful -- and then you get up close to them and they turn into a bunch of imperfect blobs, deceitful and unnatural. And you kick yourself for ever thinking that they might be perfect. Sometimes I wish that you could never get close to people, so that the big beautiful picture could never be so ugly.
