A bunch of quick updates, many courtesy of the Crew at ESS.com.

First, the makers of Lefty Loosey Righty Tighty report that they are about ready to start submitting to festivals as well. They are very aware that many fans donated and are looking forward to their premiums (DVDs, etc) and have not forgotten us! The Crew quoted, in part, from an email from the filmmakers:

We’re one round of sound fixes away from completing the film, and we’ve started the process for submitting to festivals…I wish I could give a concrete date as to when our premier will be, but it’s contingent on our acceptance to festivals…we are prioritizing Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca and Slamdance….What all this means is that the premiere of the film will likely be sometime next year.

So stay tuned!

In the meantime, more good news on the Eric front: NOVEMBER filming dates have been posted for IHMTD.  That means FOX has ordered at least ten episodes (including the pilot) - all of which will be shot before the first episode airs, so no matter what happens to the show - whether it flies or dies, I would guess these would likely be shot. That’s great news for anyone who can make it to LA to watch the screenings!

In case you missed it, Eric was present among his cast mates from FOX’s I Hate My Teenage Daughter in their panel appearance at the TCA (Television Critics Association) Summer Press Tour in Los Angeles in July. Says Wikipedia,

A TCA Press Tour allows the major television networks, cable networks and the Public Broadcasting Service to present their slate of upcoming programs to a large group of press writers from different outlets all at once through panels and interviews. These biannual conferences involve registered TCA members staying at a chosen Los Angeles venue for two to three weeks, and each network is assigned a series of days to showcase their programming.

At any rate, photos of Eric on the IHMTD panel, as well as arriving at the post-panel FOX Party (where he must have rubbed elbows with glitterati including the cast of Glee, Dylan McDermott, Joshua Jackson, Paige Turco (ex-Dinah, GL) are all over the fansites. I think the best gallery can be found on the Associated Press site (though many are watermarked) and in the gallery at ESS.com. There are several photographers who covered the events, so there are plenty to choose from. Here are a few of the best (check out the scruff- thud!).

The Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontiers campaign at FirstGiving.com closed on 19th August 2011 with $24,277.70 in total donations. Nearly $25,000! Wow! Not bad for a little “fringe fandom!” Go, Team Reid!

Also on the ESS front, Eric Sheffer Stevens now has a mailing address. I can’t guarantee that he will read the mail that he gets there, only that mail will be accepted at this address on his behalf.

As for Van, he posted on his Facebook that his short, Wedding Day, will not start filming until September. He also posted a hysterical craiglist “personal” seeking a viable Republican candidate (is that an oxymoron?). What I just discovered is that some of his longer posts are stored in his “Notes.” You still have to be Friended to view them, but at least you don’t have to wade through 15 million pages of fan art to find what he has to say. The posts are few and far between (only 7) but they include the craigslist post, as well as his OCCUPANT call to action, and some thoughts on writing, reading, Planned Parenthood, and nature vs nurture (though, as he points out, not in a sexuality context - at least I think he means context; he wrote “content”).

Also, as widely reported, PSYCH’s sixth season now has an official premiere date of October 12th. Though their official website has yet to be updated, among other sources, the official PSYCH twitter account, @Psych_USA tweeted on August 12th,

Let the countdown begin - Two months until the ultimate watch party! Gus & Shawn return on Oct 12th for the season premiere of @Psych_USA!

Let the countdown begin, indeed.

In miscellaneous news, the fabulous Trent Dawson (Henry, ATWT) is up for an acting award. As reported on the SoapCentral boards:

I just learned that Trent is up for Best Actor in a Leading Role ("The Revival") for an NY Innovative Theatre Award (it’s an off-off-Broadway award). I hope he wins! He was terrific in the part! The show is up for a total of 7 awards, including best production, director and featured actor.

And Sean Hayes is set to star in a new NBC sitcom (due in 2012) about a gay couple raising a 12-year-old son. Sean, of course, is multi-talented, but best known for playing Jack McFarland, Will’s sidekick on Will & Grace, a role which earned him an Emmy. Entertainment Weekly picked up the announcement from the TCA press tour and added,

Though gay portrayals on TV have made significant strides in recent years, especially thanks to ensemble shows Fox’s Glee and ABC’s Modern Family, a show centered around a gay couple would be unique in the current broadcast TV landscape.

It gets better, indeed.

Last, I posted on Facebook, but didn’t have a chance to post here (trying to get my Simple Gifts update done!), but last week marked the one-year anniversary of the fan trip to see Eric in Vermont Shakespeare Company’s Much Ado About Nothing. It was my first fan event ever (unless you count attending a championship parade with a milion other sports fans), so I wasn’t sure what to expect. What we got were two sensational performances, fabulous weather, late-night pajama-party squeeing, and great friendships.

So, in honor of the epic girls who graciously let me sneak a fanvid into the LuRe rewatch marathon, I’m reposting the video that debuted that weekend: More Than Friends (by Aaron and Andrew).
