I'm making meatloaf for dinner. Mom didn't cook it in a loaf pan, she would form it into a rough rectangular shape like a loaf of bread. Then (I think it was Mom, where else would I learn this from?) she would place two or three slices of bread (usually the heels) in the baking pan and place the meat on them. The bread soaks up much of the grease from the meat. Does anyone else do this?

Ps looked it up on the webs and it seems others do too...
Pps my recipe is basically a cup of breadcrumbs and an egg for each pound of meat, then I throw in ketchup and steak sauce or BBQ sauce or whatever until it looks moist enough, then cook it about 1-1.5 hours. It's rather slap-dash after the crumbs and egg, but it's not dry, I can promise you that! :D
