The broiler element is not working in our oven. So I go to my usual Internet parts site and it's $40 plus $7 shipping. Which will take a week. :P
Shop local! I call up the place I take the lawnmower to get tuned up and the guy asks if the element is damaged. I've had that happen before, like acid bubbling through from inside. The element is intact and the guy starts making sad noises, as thus means the element might still be good and it is a switch. Which would be a pain to get to as it is a wall oven. He said bring the element in and they can test it.
So I flip the circuit breaker, take the oven door off, find the socket wrench set, realize it is the metric set when none of the sockets will fit, find the backward US set, get the screws out and unclip the element. Handywoman FTW!!
Take the element to the applicace place (such a cool place) and they attach ot to two alligator clips attached to a plug. The guy says "Please confirm that the element is cold" and we stand there for awhile as the element does not heat up. w00t!! It's just the element (so far). Got it ordered and it should be here hopefully late this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I'll pick it up, reverse the steps, and we'll be good to go.
