This is rather late - but better late than never! January was insanely busy - with my birthday celebrations, Chinese New Year celebrations, and some idiot at work making life really intolerable. But I am glad that I have plodded through it, with many many shopping sprees along the way to make me feel better! :P
Completed Items in January 2012
1. TheBodyShop Candle
This was awful - it had no smell whatsoever. The only time that it had any smell at all is if you put your nose right above it while it is burning - which I absolutely do not recommend! Plus, it is not cheap, which is the only reason why I continued to burn it despite the fact that it has no smell. Definitely not worth it and will not repurchase.
2. Davines Love/Shampoo 75ml
Short Description: Lovely Smoothing Shampoo with Indian Fig Extract, Dry & Frizzy Hair
I really like this! I think it does a great job of smoothing out the hair and it smells really nice; it is kind of fruity, but I don't know the exact fruit to describe it. Not really fig-like though? Plus, the shampoo was PINK! What better way to make a shower feel great than to use a nice smelling, smoothing, PINK shampoo? The only downside to this was that it costs $29 for a 250ml bottle, which to me is really expensive for a shampoo. I like it, but I don't think it is more than 3x better than a normal drugstore shampoo. For me, the main purpose of shampoo is to keep the hair clean while not causing it to dry out in the process; it has to be really amazing for me to fork out $29 for such a small bottle of shampoo! Don't think that I will repurchase it!
3. Davines Love/Conditioner 75ml
Short Description: Lovely Smoothing Conditioner with Borage Oil, Harsh & Frizzy Hair
I love this!!! Like the shampoo, it smells pretty good. Then again, I think smell is a very individual thing - I like it, but it may not be for everyone. The most important thing about this item is that it really works - it made my hair incredibly soft after the first use, and I have a full head of untamed, frizzy, wavy and insanely large amount of hair. It's probably the dreams of many girls to have as much hair as I do, but trust me, it is not easy to control it or take care of it. This helps me to do it without any fuss and it doesn't make my hair totally flat! It costs the same as the shampoo, at $29 for 250ml, but I think it has so much more visible effect and is so much more value for money than the shampoo. Will repurchase!
4. Shiseido Prosynergy Hair Cure For Professional Treatment Mask 240g
When I first started using this, I really liked it. It really smoothed my head of frizzy and huge hair and never fails to leave it silky and untangled. However, as I used it more often, I realised that my hair is almost stuck to my head! It was so flat and lifeless that I looked as if I had half as much hair! Will not repurchase it!
5. Watsons Moisturizing & Softening Olive Body Scrub 200ml
I didn't think this was a great scrub - I couldn't really feel the scrubby bits as they were really tiny so I did not feel like I was getting a good scrub. But this was really cheap, so I shall not complain that much. On the other hand, this was gentle enough for me to use on a daily basis without feeling like I was being scrubbed raw and it did feel very soft and moisturizing! I will not buy this again though, unless I need a cheap and good body wash, as I like having scrubs behaving like scrubs rather than a moisturizing body wash.
6. Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge
One of my favourite cleaners for makeup sponges, puffs, and brushes. It used to be really easy to find them in Daiso so I never thought of buying backups, until a few rather well-known beauty bloggers began to blog about them and suddenly they are nowhere to be found! For two whole months, I scoured the whole Singapore to repurchase them but finally bought baby shampoo to take its place. I will definitely repurchase if I can find them again!
7. Vichy Purete Thermale Hydra-Perfecting Toner, 200ml
Short Description: Captelae + Glycerin; refreshed, luminous and soft skin; with vichy thermal spa water.
I like this toner - I have rather sensitive skin so some toners irritate my skin and makes me flush like mad. This toner has never made me flush, and does not dry out my already dry skin. I don't feel like it makes my skin any less dry, but honestly, a toner that does not dry it out further is already a miracle. Will repurchase!
8. Lancome Long Lasting Softening Concealer in 02 Beige Sable
One of my old favorite concealers! This is my perfect shade - it covers up everything and blends flawlessly into my skin. It's very natural looking, but that also means that the coverage cannot really be built up or I imagine it will look rather fake. I don't have bad acne scars or anything though, only some under-eye darkness and a few little fresh spots during the "time of the month", or some redness on my face when my skin allergy kicks up. I have another HG concealer now, so won't be repurchasing this.
9. Mixture of Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum (52 Vanilla) & Rimmel Lasting Finish 25H Foundation (200 Soft Beige)
I kept a mixture of this on hand because my Bourjois Healthy Mix was too light, and my Rimmel Foundation was too dark. Together, they were the perfect shade! Plus, Rimmel is a full coverage foundation and is slightly greasy, while Bourjois is very light coverage and dries down quickly; I found that together, they were really amazing! However, mixing them in large quantity was a BIG mistake - I don't think the ingredients agree with each other; after a few days in the tube, the mixture was kind of separated with some oil-like substance above. I had to throw this before I had completed it because it looked totally gross. From now, I will only mix them right before I use them!
10. Maybelline Watershine Pure in 104 Naturals
Bought this in 2008! I know, it sounds pretty gross to have kept this for so long, but there was no change in smell or texture so I just continued using it! :P I know a lot of people don't like this because it's very slippery, but I liked it when I bought it - I think it's a really good 'beginner's lipstick', because the pigment isn't too strong, and it's slippery enough not to look harsh so any mistake is not too obvious. I don't think I will repurchase though, as I am quite comfortable with wearing more pigmented lipsticks by now and as I am working, I don't to have to keep reapplying.
